But Trump haven't done anything
Such a idiot
You do realize when H1N1 was around, Obama and Biden did fuckall and nobody cared.
That's because Obama was black and beautiful.

And we have this unrealistic mindset that no one should ever get sick, apparently.
If that’s the case, do you think we will wear masks for the rest of our days?
@DavidFox I can’t imagine that being necessary, I’m pretty confident scientists will develop a vaccine in relatively short order. However, I WOULD like to see masks in public to become a thing of common courtesy when someone is sick in any way and venturing out among others, as is done in many Asian countries. I just think that should become a standard of common courtesy, because now I wouldn’t even be able to hear an argument for the average person to not wear one, since I wear them while I do cardio at the gym right now, with asthma, and it’s not anywhere near as restrictive to breathing as many want to make it out to be. So when we’re out of the woods with this, I think that should be an adjustment made in the western world as a societal standard. It’s polite, it’s simple, and it makes all the sense in the world if it reduces spread of disease by even 1%, so like why not? Very minor inconvenience.
To be clear, it wouldn’t be a mandatory rule, but just kind of a thing where people might look at you like “what the fuck, bro? Don’t you give a shit about anyone besides yourself?”, as a social custom.
But I thought you wanted to preserve life. So why not require masks from now on? Because you know that masks can help prevent the spread of flu and the flu kills lots of people every year.
@DavidFox Preserve life within reason, in the face of something that something scientists who will forever be smarter and more reliable than you are I say it’s something we need to take drastic measures to protect against vs the responses to previous and apparently much less serious pandemics. Or the other option is we all go feral and abandon life as we currently live it, live like the animals we actually are, and live or die as nature dictates. But you can’t have it both ways with fabricated societies but also just saying “fuck it, roll the dice with all of our safety.” This is my answer based on everyone else’s seemingly entitled attitude towards our current way of life, which is wildly unnatural.
@DavidFox *than you or I
@DavidFox Bur theoretically, if we did start wearing masks at all times, we’re all huuuuuuge pussies if we couldn’t tolerate such a minor adjustment.
I guess we will agree to disagree. Covid 19 alone doesn’t kill that many people, and most of the deaths based solely on Covid 19 are people over 80 years old. Those individuals certainly need to alter their lifestyle until better solutions present themselves but the 99.9% of others who don’t die from Covid 19 being required to wear masks, stay inside, work remotely, and suffer depression and anxiety isn’t the best solution for our society.
@DavidFox Always down to agree to disagree, haha. But here’s the thing with what you’re saying... and I do get where you’re coming from... but everyone’s situation is different. Take me for example. I live and care for my 88 year old father. By your logic, I assume you’d say “keep your dad at home, and you should limit your exposure where possible and take extra precautions.” Fine. Here’s my problem though: this is a VIRUS. It can float into our home through the fucking window, it can come in on the mail or the groceries. And that situation is not made optimal unless pretty much all citizens are on board. You want to talk anxiety and depression, I’ll be depressed as fuck if my dad dies from this shit, and I’m anxious that I can get it to, being an asthmatic. And not for nothing, I’ve been on this site over a decade (sadly lmfao)... I usually know who are the conservatives and the liberals, with the regular users. In the past, on mental health questions, I’ve seen a decent amount of “wahhhhh, shut the fuck up about your mental health problems, pull yourself up by the bootstraps and suck it up!” from certain conservative people.
@DavidFox I’m not discounting that there are situationally anxious and depressed people out there based on this year’s struggles. But I just hope when we get past this, all those conservatives who are all of a sudden (I think somewhat disingenuously) concerned about this issue and are using it as a reason why we should just say fuck it and be reckless, I hope they keep that same energy and sensitivity for mental health awareness after this. Keep it consistent, because otherwise it’s going to feel like people are coming up with whatever dramatic excuse they can to dissuade the powers that be from making the moves they feel they need to make. I hate to make it a political thing because I don’t subscribe to politics, period, but I’m just calling what I see, and I can’t lie, I laughed out loud when the right all of a sudden started caring about people’s feelings, even if there is some merit to the idea.
@DavidFox *i live with and care for
@DavidFox Oh, but my overall point was, since we’re dealing with a viral infection, everything anyone alive who is 0-79 affects everyone, including those who are 80+.
I just prayed for you and your family because at the end of the day that’s what is most important. Our quality of life isn’t measured by daily deaths, wearing masks, or anything else we do ‘together’ in our society. Like it or not, even when mandated there will be 10% of people not falling in line so a macro approach will fail. What’s important is we focus on our families and ourselves; our local communities. So I fully support your love and caring for your father and wish many more happy years with him enjoying life. However those precious few years he has left shouldn’t have to be spent hunkered down, wearing masks, socially distancing, not being able to hug family or dance with his grand daughter. My main point is while you are seeing masks as a minor adjustment I see them as a pattern of slowly eroding freedoms. Already the freedoms we have lost:Being outside without a maskShaking hands with a strangerAttending a weddingGoing to churchOperating a successful small businessCircling back to the original question if Biden is elected more freedoms may go away:2nd amendmentReligious libertyCapitalismFreedom of speech...Honestly if you could guarantee the plague ends on January 1st 2021 if everyone wears a mask I would go put my steelers mask on right now. But this thing could last and your father could be in danger as you described until 2025. How many people are going to want a ‘minor’ adjustment for 4 more years?
@DavidFox gahhhhh, you lost me at “Steelers”🚫 Lmao, jk, I’m a Pats fan, just not used to suffering lately😂Thank you for the prayers, man, I appreciate that.I understand your concerns of erosion of freedom, I’m just saying to be patient and we’ll get it back. No one likes living like this. My dad is at an age where he could go at any time, so I’m hoping he survives through all this, because I’d hate to not be able to give him a proper send off. He is living his life, to my chagrin, haha, in that he goes to his men’s club every week. He lives for that, and I’d never want to take that for him. I’m willing to let him make his own decision on that, and roll the dice for myself, as that’s an additional risk to me. I’m actually not saying we need full lockdowns, I think maintaining a somewhat normal existence is very attainable. I’m going to the gym and playing hockey (although they shut the rinks back down this week). We gotta live our lives to some degree, I get it. I think there’s a way to live at maybe 50-75% IFFFFFFF everybody can remain on board with safety protocols and not buck over silly things like a mask. Not ideal, but not complete shutdown. I’m VERY fortunate in that this could not have come at a more convenient time for me, I have no rent and basically just pay for groceries, my phone bill, car stuff, and that’s it. I’m on a far less dire position than most people. I don’t want to see anyone doing badly.
@DavidFox Although I would say, regarding small businesses, the worst thing going for small business is big business. Home Depot, Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon... THAT’S the problem, something should be done to level that playing field, because right now, if you want to be in the hardware game, you basically gotta get down HD or Lowe’s and be part of the machine, Stan’s Nuts n’ Bolts down the street is cooked. But anyway, aside from that... yeah, I mean, I guess I’m buying into hype that a vaccine or at least reliable treatment would be widely available, not necessarily Trump’s “next couple weeks” stuff, but at least Fauci’s “next year.” Four or five years... let’s just hope for better and that it doesn’t come to that, that’s a whole other story and would be a disaster.
