Powell's City of Books in Portland, one of the world’s largest independent bookstores, had to evacuate repeatedly after it was besieged by protesters enraged over its plans to sell a book claiming Antifa is “destroying democracy.”
A crowd of protesters flocked to the store on Monday to denounce its decision to distribute a book by a local author, conservative journalist Andy Ngo, known for documenting and highlighting instances of violence associated with Antifa on social media. The owners were forced to evacuate employees and customers out the back door. Later that day, the store announced it would not be putting the book on the shelves.

Censoring an idea doesn't say that it's bad, it says that you fear it- and have no argument against it. If an idea is bad, let it be preached openly so it can be argued against. I don't have absolute faith in the Marketplace Of Ideas, but it's pretty darned close.
Do you honestly think Marine Le Pen would've gotten so many votes if the far-right ideals she espouses were openly discussed and criticized?

The administrators of internet forums censor people all the time. Half my posts over the long term get deleted on this site, for example, because I oppose the blatant evil and disregard for God that takes place here.
Well, kind of proved the point of the book didn't it? Banning books and censoring world views is always dangerous but thats what authoritarian fascists do because its the only way they can win, by not allowing others to participate in the market place of ideas.

Banning books is a dangerous and slippery slope, doesn't take a whole lot of traction for something like this to become a seemingly Unstoppable Force. Either it's all okay, or none of it is, because everything is going to offend somebody.
No one's going to like me for making this comparison, but this is starting to become eerily similar to Nazis burning books in World War II.

Protesting against lies is always a good policy. It's not the book, but the lies in the book they were against.
But it probably will be withdrawn by the publishers soon, as it supports Trump. We know the Trump brand is now toxic and a lot of brands are pulling back from him.
Yes. It is also horrible to be on a list if you look into a book. There is so much more to this but it dodsnt matter until people start realizing that they are wrong.

Yes. I recently read an article about the Turner Diaries, now banned, has been getting a recent upsurge by Teumpists which is terrifying. As it was the inspiration for McVeigh in OK City.
According to the original Antifa, in pre-Nazi Germany, the Nazis themselves were "working people's comrades", and they publicly announced that they "would prefer to see the Nazis in power rather than lift a finger to save the republic" of Weimar Germany under the SPD- which they condemned as "fascist", for being slightly right-of-center, liberal and democratic, and being opposed to both them and their Nazi "working class comrades". And after they ousted the SPD from power, in spite of the mass demonstrations of the Iron Front, a right-wing anti-communist and "social fascist terror organisation" (according to OG Antifa) in support of the President and the republic, engaging the paramilitary alliance between the Nazi SA and Communists' 'Antifa' in pitched battles on the streets in the run up to and aftermath of the election, the Nazis ditched them as the tools they'd always been- which the Communists and Antifa took exception to, launching an armed communist uprising from their stronghold of Silesia in the immediate aftermath of the election, which resulted in the army being dispatched, threatening a potential civil war and further increasing public acceptance of the Nazis as the 'lesser evil'. And things came to a head when Antifa assassinated the original leader of the SA, Axel Schaffeld, with the tattered remnants of 'Antifa' forced to dissolve and go underground by the Nazis afterwards. All the added security, and the massive military contingent, around Biden and his administration- that's not to protect them against the Trumpers/Iron Front 2.0. It's to protect them from history repeating itself, and their used and discarded Antifa 2.0 tools enacting vengeance by assassinating them in the same way...
