- I don't think their should be an age cap. I met so many dumb people in their 50s, and some really smart kids in their teens.
I think their should be an accomplishment tick box, and a weight system.
For Instance:
Unskilled Worker = 1 Vote
Skilled Worker = 2 Votes
Business Owner = 3 Votes
Skilled Worker + Business Owner = 5 Votes
Lawyer/Doctor = 2 votes
Lawyer/Doctor + Business Owner = 5 Votes
White Collar Employee = 2 Votes
An so on.
I don't think the majority picking is smart. Most people are lazy, and do not want to read, or do research. A lot of people can not even. think for themselves. They lack critical thinking skills. People who have accomplished things votes should be more valued than those who have not.
People can argue it is unfair, but I disagree. I think it is more fair because someone who has made themselves of value to society should have a vote that is more valued.
QUALITY OVER QUANTITY!0|10|0Is this still revelant?Your vote weighting is a recipe for revolution.
That system would not work and, ironically, is somewhat akin to how the Constitution was first written.
... but then they realized the potential for revolution from those that did not have suffrage and started writing a few amendments to fix that.
The reason it is problematic is that voting gives a person a voice in how they can protect their families.
By giving someone 5 votes to the unskilled worker's 1 vote, you are telling the unskilled worker that the family of the guy who gets 5 votes is more important than the unsikilled worker's family.
The unskilled worker doesn't like it... and there are a lot more unskilled workers than guys with 5 votes... so they're going to do something about it (*) unless that system changes and fixes that inequality.
(*) Like kill the guys with 5 votes or kill and/or those who established this system that makes them be the shit class in that society.
And you know who has value? The fry cook at McDonald's who can piss on them or sneeze COVID-19 on them.
Young lady:
Don't EVER tell people that they don't have value because, very quickly, they will show you that 1) they do and 2) your value is overrated. They know instinctively something that you have forgotten. If it bleeds, it can be slaughtered and rich "valued" people bleed just as well and are no more tasty to the worms and maggots eating the corpse after death as that of people with no value.
Learn this valuable lesson now or you will be learning many more lessons the hard way in The School of Hard Knocks.@abc3643 "Young Lady"? Listen old man, the unskilled worker is an unskilled worker for a reason. They have not applied themselves. We have all the privileges here in America, and people still believe they are victims. People think that it's just cheap labor going over seas. It's not. A lot of Engineering jobs are going overseas because Indian people can do the job better, and they don't complain.
Old man, a revolution would never happen because people who lead revolutions tend to be small business owners who get 5 votes.
And the person at McDonald's who pisses or sneezes in your food is exactly why they should not get valued the same. The person has no values. Also, how the eff do they know who they are serving? Furthermore, they jeopardized their own salary because that is a reasonable offense to sue, and believe me I would!
Furthermore, CoVid-19 is a effing joke! People just don't know how to be healthy. If you are healthy, it will not kill you. it's your fault if you decide to be unhealthy. Grow up, old man!@abc3643 And by the way, don't ever fucking talk to me about hard knocks. I can run circles around your miserable old life with what I have done in mine! You are part of the problem. Cry baby Baby Boomer who never added anything to society!

Your system would be very difficult to maintain. It is discriminatory which flies in the face of the Constitution. Just reading your comment alone I was able to form a decision that the system you proposed would not last long. Yes, I did read the replies but I didn't allow them to influence me in reaching my decision.@joeblow123 Firstly, this is a "for instance" like I said. And I think it would work great. Also, I do not think we are all equal. People decide where they what to be in life. If you are a leech in life, you deserve only one vote.
I see that you are going to have some problems in life.
Good luck with that. (And I genuinely mean that.)
- We should. If you looked at the brexit referendum you'd see that many old people who wouldn't even live long enough to see the results voted for a motion that the youth, the future of the country, despised. How is that democrat?0|00|0Is this still revelant?

- Nope, elders balance out the youngers. In ways The seniors would not consider life, the juniors would not in the opposite way leading to a natural balance. I would put in place, having a job, marriage, children, and a house + 10 years manual Labor as a restriction. That would drain the swamp. However, in leu of this system at least 8 years of manual labor. Our so called elites have little history of actually working and have been funded by us. They make decisions supposedly on our behalf and yet have not skin in the game nor experience what we have. If you have presence of mind to go to the booth then you can still vote. If you're dead or don't have presence of mind and your vote is mailed in ordinarily it shouldn't count, but remember, COVID! 😣😫😖🤮😷0|10|0Is this still revelant?
- There should be an age gap for running that's for sure.
You'll notice most world leaders are old crocodiles and the world is suffering for it. The few country where the person in charge is young are the ones who are thriving the most.
If you're not allowed to work past 64 and are made to retire just based on age then you shouldn't be allowed to run for president at 61 if you're eying a 4 year term since this too is a job and one of the most important out there it should be given to the most competant and active and energetic.0|00|0Is this still revelant?

937- No younger than 25, no upper age limit, but cognitive and literacy testing required within the last year to receive a voter ID required for voting, no exceptions.0|00|0
- I think voting age should be 25 because that is when the prefrontal cortex become completely developed. You can’t expect an adolescent who doesn’t even have fully developed rational thinking abilities yet to vote in political matters. Most of them are too stupid and too busy getting drunk and partying. It should be 25 and over.0|10|0
- No, there should not be an age cap on voting. Everyone that is a citizen deserves to have their voices heard.0|00|0
- Yep. 110.
Anyone older is a coffin dodging vampire, hogging a pension stealing from the state, and should be hunted down.0|00|0 - If you're old enough to serve for your country, then you're old enough to get a vote. So here, that would be 18. Not I don't think it should be raised or lowered.0|00|0
- No, but there should be a placement text to see whether or not a person is intelligent enough to actually vote properly.0|00|0
@joeblow123 to vote based on an understanding of the topics/candidates at hand and how they will impact the nation and generations to come rather than to blindly follow one extreme or the other.
@Ms_Vanderquack
Thanks for clarifying. When I asked other people what they meant by "voting properly" they would reply with blindly agreeing with them.- Show All Show Less
- Not on voting, but yes on president age. I like JB, but I think 65 should be the cap.0|00|0
- Whatever age at which conservatism shoots right up like a heroin addict.0|00|0
- There should be less roadblocks to voting, not more.0|00|0
- Minimum age of 30. Need that real world life experience to have an informed vote. Usually by 30, everyone has had a taste of the real world. Competency tests may also be in order.0|30|0
@lonelyfortune I think military people should be exempt since they're laying their life on the line. They're also not pampered weaklings like a lot of college students are.
- Are you an American?
As it stands, the restriction on felons voting is illegal and unconstitutional, so why not add another violation of American rights, since I have already lost track of how mamy of those rights have been pooped on already.0|10|0 - I don’t think so that means Donald Trump couldn’t vote any more0|00|0
- You shouldn't be able to vote after you are dead... Democrats will fight against that tooth and nail though. The dead are their primary special interest group.0|10|0
- No. An age cap to run for office is needed though (say 70), along with a 12 year lifetime term limits.0|00|0
- I don't think so, but I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to an age cap on holding office. It'd be interesting to see how power's held when it's held by the young.0|00|1
- My father is 93 years old. He owned his own business, was a WW2 vet and a taxpayer for over 70 years. Who is going to tell this guy he can't vote anymore?0|10|0
- Absolutely not!!! Just like we shouldn’t have a gender prohibition for voting.0|00|0
- Retirement age sounds right. Should also yank their drivers licenses too.
And to be clear, I'm not being sarcastic. I agree fully.0|00|2 - No, if anything the age requirement should be increased.0|00|0
- No. What would you tell those people?
"You've contributed to society for your whole life, paid taxes, worked hard. Now fuck off, you don't deserve the most basic democratic right."?0|10|0 - That would not change the fact that 'voting' is quite irrelevant anyway.0|10|0
- A minimum IQ would be good, but that would exclude Republicans from participating.0|00|3
- Anonymous7 dI think that we should limit voting to people who own property and pay a minimum amount of taxes. Everyone else is a leech and until they earn it they should not be allowed to vote for more freebies.
#KillAllLeeches0|00|1 - @chriscdi we need a cap. no cap0|00|0
- Yes. You should have to be age 30 or older to vote. No youngins. They are freaking retarded.1|00|0
- Should start at 21 and no one with mental problem like dementia should be allowed to vote.0|00|1
- no, but i think you should have to take a competency test to vote0|00|1
- 25 on the low side, none on the high side.0|00|0
- I don't think that's necessary.0|00|0
- No everyone has the right and duty to vote.0|00|0
- You might as well measure your own voting weighing by your IQ. Age is overrated.0|00|1
- no, we should raise the minimum to 20 or 30 tho0|00|0
- No, why would we need that?0|00|0
- 19 years old, if any
think about it...0|00|1@MysteriousDarkness If we only allow people between the age of 18 and 19 vote, and elect our leaders, then maybe and just maybe... society in general will put a lot more effort on raising children, don't you think?
- Doesn't matter. Votes don't count anyway0|10|0
- wdym0|00|0
no thats pretty dumb, i think if you are a citizen of the country, you should always be able to vote once you hit 18
not only that, those people have been living all their lives in the country they should at least have the rights to vote
- No, that is a nasty idea.1|00|0
- No but the minimum age should be 350|00|1
