I'm sure that I'd get me a few little things that I presently have put on hold.
But basically, I'd not change much and just stash it aside.
Unless it's really a LOT - where I'd think of something that also benefits others; maybe an organic farming project or such; ... something that produces and that lasts.

Put it in an interest bearing account or investment, and live off the interest. Getting six to eight percent growth isn't too terribly difficult, so that would be sixty to eighty thousand a year.
It sounds like a lot, but it's really not. And if you spend the principle, the original million, then you have nothing. Trust me, I've seen this done, even in my own family.

I’d put into something super safe like a cd or bond getting a Pathetic rate of prob 3%. 30k a year is not much but coming from a family that has nothing.
