Why do we keep getting such stupid leaders?

So we (the USA) go from a President who is a narcissistic psycho in his own little reality to one who just isn't very bright. Whatever happened to Plato's idea of the philosopher-kings who guide the country? More like Play-Dough with our recent choices...

There hasn't been a good presidential candidate from either party since the 90s. The last good Republican candidate was Bob Dole. If he had won, I think things would have been very different. We would probably not have had a string of bad presidents like Bush 2, Obama, Trump and Biden.

Both parties lost a lot of people in the early to mid 90s, largely due to retirements. It hit the Republican Party harder than the Democrats, but the Dems also took some hits. The quality really went down hill after that.

One thing that happened is that both parties changed their strategy. There used to be political wisdom that said, "To win the election, you have to win the hearts of middle America."

The strategy was to go after the middle. The left and right were a given, so it was the middle that determined the winner. Neither party does that any more. They both go after their "core" which they define as the far right and far left. They rely on high voter turnout of their core rather than the middle vote. This is a major cause of why it's become so divisive. This not only leaves out the middle undecided voters, it alienates people from their own party who are more moderate.

You say Biden isn't very bright. Just what is his IQ? You don't know, obviously. Biden did graduate from the University of Delaware, and went to law school, and passed the bar exam on his first try. So he is certainly no dummy, and has an above average IQ.

I am basing my assessment on what he says and his actions. Of course he is a politician so I suppose that must be taken into consideration as well.

Biden also has a life long speech impediment, which does cause his some difficulty when speaking. However, IQ and intelligence is not measured by how well a person gives speeches. if that were the case, then every mute person, or person with jaw surgery, would be devoid of intelligence. Trumpers deliberately use a subjective method of determining Biden's intelligence, completely ignoring that he passed the bar exam on his first try.

As Jefferson once said We are all republicans, we are all federalists. We are all dumbocrats and retardicans. Trump brought some valid points, but so does Biden. The difference is when they both play to the extremes. Moderate values is best Because it allows free speech without cancel culture, and a better future for the common man.

The job basically sucks. It doesn't pay very well. Even with all the bribes and kickbacks it does not pay nearly as well as the CEO of a decent size company.

Because voters refuse to vote the incumbents out... until we keep turning them over each election this will continue to get worse. A new voter party is needed Vote All Incumbents Out (VAIO)
Term limits are needed at all levels of government from the local level all the way up. If the President has a term limit why shouldn’t all these other corrupt politicians...
