Maybe... if we had fewer but better gun owners. Better corporations that took less socialist tax breaks. Fewer politicians buying/selling stocks affected by their legislation.

I don't entirely disagree. While the phrasing is utterly moronic, and it can be interpreted as 'the only correct votes are the ones that favor me', the thing is that there are plenty of idiots who see politics as little more than their average sports ball game of blue team vs red team. The presidential race has turned into a high school popularity contest in which the candidates aren't rated based on their views, political opinions or laws they would implement, but rather on how they look or what their tweets are like.
It does bother me that the undecided voter chooses the election. Since 45% go for Dems and 45% go to Repubs. But that’s how it is...

"Better" voters? That usually means "Voters more like me".
As far as gun ownership, it should be as difficult as getting a license to drive a car. There should be a required class, and both a written and practical test. Also strict requirements for storage of weapons at home.

How will you determine who is a "better voter", and who will determine it? Will you have to pass a test, like you do to get a driver's license? If so, will it be dumbed down to the point where anyone could pass it? Plato, in the Republic, discussed the idea that the masses are not capable of ruling themselves, and it should be the elite who govern. Sounds like we already have that. It's a can of worms you don't want to open.
@AllThatSweetJazz Any acceptable form of voter ID, or do you want only one form like a specific voter ID card? If the latter, then there needs to be a rather lengthy enough period of time when what's acceptable now, if anything is in your state, converts to whatever the new form will be.
It's just proof of identity, citizenship, and residence. Any documents that can facilitate that should be acceptable. Some states already do it, I don't see why it shouldn't be all of them.

Democracy only works when every citizen has one vote, as well as the garantee that he or she can actually vote, as well as that each vote will count.

For some negative value of "Better".
I've still to see how you could overturn an election by in-person voting, which is the only sort that voter id protects against.
Excluding everyone who can't afford ten hours pay on ID clearly can, though.

Democrats and socialists would like to limit the number of voters but they want to eliminate everyone who voted for Trump. They have not figured out a way to do that so they are trying the next best thing.
I guess the fraudsters didn't take advantage of it then since there was no vote fraud in Georgia or anywhere else, except for a few people who were Trump supporters.
@msc545 How about thousands of mail in ballots with no signatures or postmarks. Just because none of these instances got any kind of a formal investigation does not mean they didn't happen. The suitcases under the tables was never looked at. They just pretended it never happened and the media covered for them.
that's true. i'm not against those that have lost their rights as "citizens" not being able to buy a gun. those that are mentally disabled shouldn't be allowed unless deemed competent.
i think if the regulations were more clarified then everyone would rest easy. as it stands, you can't control the illegal gun trade and home invasions.
i think for it to be 100% safe, every gun should have it's fingerprint and suppressors/silencers would have to be illegal
@msc545 that's actually a very good definition because neither can and their rights are not equal. mentally unstable people can't own guns but criminals can as long as they aren't felons

Bam, knocked it out of the park.

The test would be: do you have voter ID?
Quite a dumb test, but it's able to identify you as a citizen and that you're a real person with a real vote.

nothing more and nothing less

Funny the only voter laws are coming from trump supporting politicians.
No, Stacy Abrams and her sister changed the laws in Georgia to allow for voter fraud.
I guess the fraudsters didn't take advantage of it then since there was no vote fraud in Georgia or anywhere else, except for a few people who were Trump supporters.
Unless you’re talking about Abrams getting more voter access for people I’m not sure what you mean.
I'm not sure I know what I mean either. I was talking about the fact that there didn't seem to be any vote fraud of any significance much of anywhere

keep believing that if it comforts you.
That crap has been discredited if you care to look.
Good point. Better would be subjective from either side.
Yes. I don't think "better voters" is a particularly viable concept
The.0001% illegal votes? Apparently by Repubs in 2020...
Not by illegals, but fewer illegal votes. Out of state, dead people, multiple votes, etc.
Not everyone deserves a gun

How would you define "mentally disabled"?
@msc545 those that can't purchase a gun
that is a very inaccurate definition. Criminals can't purchase guns either.
@msc545 that's actually a very good definition because neither can and their rights are not equal. mentally unstable people can't own guns but criminals can as long as they aren't felons
you didn't answer my question. what is your definition of "mentally unstable" ?
@msc545 well i think that is a federal or state definition. i would imagine it is being prescribed controlled substances through a doctor
Actually mentally unstable people constantly obtain guns legally.
this is true. if they aren't on government health insurance they aren't flagged
That or guns shows or private gun sales. All of that is in Dem crosshairs...
do you think that republicans think psychos deserve guns? i certainly don't
then why dont they vote to regulate it?
I think I can answer that little bit. Profits are always more important than anything else.
@msc545 agreed
