For that second paragraph, I think this is what many "nice guys" get wrong these days. They might think of themselves as gentlemen but they're lacking in the "man" part. They're too submissive and agreeable. I suspect a real gentleman can still be very cool and popular with women, but he needs the man part down and have a sufficiently dominant and assertive vibe.
A dominant type who puts others first can be perceived as a protector. A submissive type who does that will often be perceived as a servant and a doormat.

Yes exactly what I believe too. Build yourself up first and make sure your cup is overflowing, so then you can start making others’ lives great as well and then it will not take from you in any way, shape or form.
