Do you believe it is true people who lack self confidence are more likely to care what other people think about them?

It depends. Some might, some won't.

I can only give myself as an example. I deeply DETEST AND DESPISE my height and how short I am. I also realize I am ugly as well. And I have a small size dick. I have a million negatives and insecurities about my physical appearance, but the height one is the only one I loathe intensely, because there's absolutely NOTHING I can do about it. I'm just stuck child-size (180 cm) forever! Always an "F" grade of a male.

Someone giving me an obnoxious, shitty backhanded compliment towards my height ("oh, you're average height") is a million times more infuriating than someone just being rude or frank with me ("Shut up; you're a midget.", "You're an ugly sack of sh*t.")

I would have to say, it's some unknown combination of agreement/disagreement, and confirmation/challenge. In other words, someone telling me something I don't agree with and expecting a "thank you" for it, is far more obnoxious and troublesome than someone telling me someone I already expect would be the norm, even if they're rude about it.

Some people are very sensitive about it. Others are so numb and cynical, they won't care what you say to them. I've been both. I probably still am both, depending on the type of comment it is.

You certainly nailed it with this question, absolutely. There are all degrees of this, male and female and those that need social acceptance and praise the most suffer from self-esteem issues the most. The cliques that form from this socializing inbreed this behavior multiplicatively, maybe exponentially.

Yes, it is true that people with low self esteem worry heavily what other people think of them, but just because a person is confident and may not care what people think of them, it doesn't mean they don't care about other people. I am pretty confident and I don't care at all what people think about me. I do however care immensely about other people

I think it is true. Though, no matter how much self-esteem you've got, there's always gonna be some people that u care about their opinions. For example, a girl u like, or, ur friends, maybe ur family.
