Beat the fuck out of him. Wtf? People are so inhumane. Rape is DISGUSTING! The fucker who committed this felony must rot in the fucking prison until he's 80 and old with no kids, grandkids. Just some old bitter man.

None of the above. I'd execute him on the spot, then call 911. Lethal force is justified in my state when protecting yourself or others from a violent felony, such as rape.

Dunno man. An interesting story for sure. I'm usually trying to fight the instinct that tells me I need to save a damsel in distress, since often times playing the hero turns out poorly, with the woman turning on the savior if the perpetrator is her boyfriend.
I also feel like our society is in a state where it has more empathy for the criminal than it does for the law-abiding citizen. I could kill the rapist and then get thrown in jail for murdering him. And it's often women who have these bleeding-heart attitudes. "Poor misunderstood criminals, we just need to show them compassion and they'll turn into people like us." Public transportation is a shitshow. My bus station is a hub for the homeless. It reeks of piss, weed, and cigarettes, and there's more vagrants than there are commuters. If it was up to me they'd all get a club to the back of the head until the station was nice and clean again. But noo, apparently it's fine to let all these junkies and schizos hang around public places and use facilities paid for by our tax subsidies, public safety be damned.
So to answer your question... Sure, I'd do something about it, but not to save the woman, I couldn't give a damn about the woman. I don't really think the average woman deserves to be saved, and I don't really see anything in it for me. But I have a desire for violence, and the assailant's actions would be a good justification for me to enact my desires on him.
And here's the thing about the story... I doubt we're getting the full picture. Maybe the "bystanders" were actually the assailant's friends. Maybe the victim and the assailant knew each other so the bystanders thought it was consensual. Maybe it was between two hobos so nobody gave a shit.
In case why you don't get why I don't want to help the woman... Our society is practically begging for things like this to happen. Dude is already a homeless sex offender, he's supposed to be deported but a judge withheld it. And you know what? He's probably going to get out of jail and commit more crimes. Then maybe he'll pull a gun on a cop and the cop will shoot him, and then we'll have more "peaceful protests" for this martyr and he'll be immortalized in statues, Saint Fiston Ngoy's statue can be right next to Saint George Floyd's. But as I was saying... as long as we're cool with criminals and crime, as long as we're cool with judges giving criminals a slap on the wrist, as long as we're cool with letting transients invade public places... People get what they deserve. This isn't MY system, it's not MY job to fix or clean up after things. You people want it this way, so why should I prevent you from reaping the "reward"?I'd like to think that my fight instinct would kick in. But having been sexually assaulted on the train myself, having a man also flash me on the train, I was also being followed, I have found myself frozen, or in such shock I ran off, our if fear for being late for work just kept moving carriages until I lost him.
I'm older now and nothing like that's happened since but it was frightening. The saddest thing is other men didn't do a thing, even on a occasion when some drunk guy was shouting abuse at me on the way home.
The day I was pressed up against the glass whilst this guy started grinding his junk on me it was actually a woman that was alerted to my fear and his behaviour and she shouted at him. He then ran off.
London is such a bizarre and busy over crowded city things like this happen.
And out of fear people don't bat an eyelid and that's why predators like cities.
The footage if it happened like it shows, shame on those people.
I'm utterly disgusted that instead of calling the police they filmed it. Fine one person filmed for evidence but there were so many of them. They could have saved her and administered a citizen arrest.
Unfortunately we have been conditioned to be so cold. This is a clear sign that we are losing humanity. 🥺How I would respond would depend on what part I noticed what was going on.
If I got on the train and saw what was going on, I'd call 911 first... then confront the guy. This way if I get knocked out or am unable to call 911 later, at least they are on the way.
If I was on the train when it started, I would have told to him to leave her alone long before it got to that point. If he persisted and then ripped her pants down I would try to stop it right there.
No woman wants to have the guy inside her, raping her first and then pulled off.
Of course I have a unique history of having to shoot a guy in a parking lot, who was attacking a woman and all I did was shout HEY and he came at me, stabbed me and sliced me. I do believe if I had not been carrying that day I'd be dead now. Had I not shot him, he likely would of stabbed me dozens of times.
I do however wonder if the riders on this train were all male's, who thought... live action rape sex, I want to record this... I can't imagine a woman just ignoring it or recording it, but anything is possible.
Even if someone is afraid of getting hurt, call 911... go farther away to call if your worried about the attacker over hearing you. Do something.
Where I live, a guy saw a teenage girl being gang raped by a group of teenage boys and he drove against oncoming traffic up the wrong side of the road, to stop it. He saved her but then he got charged with endangering all the other people on the road for his actions.
Lets just say, the public outrage caused those charges to be dropped, the girl and her family were very grateful for his courage.I thought this was one of those situations people used as why Americans carried guns?
Whats terrible about this and some of the Blue answers, is this could have been One of their wives, mothers, daughters sisters.
Obviously some people don’t care if their own family members get raped, I wonder if they have told family members this fact?
Where I live, I’ve seen a guy beaten up after been told to stop taking photos of girls, this type of thing would likely have ended up with the rapist severely beaten. To aid in any needed future investigation or search if he gets away, I'd have someone else film him while I go over and help stop him. But in case he has a weapon, I'd wanna jump on him quick &/or be very strategic or ruthless with my attack if I felt that he could potentially outmatch me in strength or vantage. So yeah, I'd film it while attempting to do something about it.
Wtf... This has to be the most stupid generation ever.
Join in? Lets see them try to escape now!
But joking aside, there is always more to these than is reported. People do some crazy shit to each other for kicks. We won't know what the relationship was between the pair and whether he had a weapon/accomplices or whatever, until the court case.I would like to think I would intervene immediately. Real life experience with other incidents says I would freeze and observe for a while, trying to decide if it's really bad enough for me to go in without risking a misunderstanding. Once someone is on the ground with her clothing getting ripped off, I am pretty sure I would be confronting the attacker at that point.
Had I been on that train, I would kicked that motherfucker right in the chin!!! Then I would've pitched a major bitch at all those fucking ignorant losers on the train that just fucking SAT THERE and WATCHED IT!!!
What the world? Why would anyone who sees a woman being raped not do something about it? What if that was your sister? Your mother? Your friend? Your girlfriend?
I would yell at that person and try to do something about it, while on the phone with 911. This is disgusting and just unbelievable that people would just stand there, recording this disgusting and humiliating act! I'm just surprised by humanity, even when a disgusting and evil act is happening right in front of them!Well, to be quite honest... I would probably freeze for a few seconds, trying to compute what the hell is happening.
Then I'd try kicking them off and try to knock them unconscious and either get someone else to call the cops or call them myself.
But knowing my fighting prowess, I'd most likely end up being the one who's getting their face caved in.
At least I'd've stopped the attacker, though.I'd like to think I would get the guy off her and then call the cops, but people freeze up in situations like that. Watching someone get raped is such a bizarre thing that I think most people were just in shock. Like "is this shit really happening right now?"
And this is why police exist. Love em or hate em, they'll actually DO something if a violent crime is happening right in front of them. Now, getting them to pull their finger out on a crime that's already in the past, good luck with that. But as emergency responders they're not afraid to get stuck in. The pure narcissism of someone who sees a rape and thinks "uh oh, better film it and do nothing to stop it" makes me sick, and it's a good reminder that the general public don't do shit.

of course I would do something about it!!
whatever I can in that moment, either hit him with the hardest object I can find or kick, bite, scratch and hopefully she's not too hurt so we can gang up on him It depends... if you have a gun, you can shoot and try to help.. but if i am disarmed and they are 10 blacks with machetes i would not risk my life for someone i don't know... Then if it's a familiar, wife, sister or someone i know, i must have to die protecting her no matter what.
Well hell. I certainly wouldn't record it! Right now I tell myself I would do something to help but in that moment things would be different.
While my brain tries to process what's happening I might freeze like a deer in the headlights.Neither, I don't care that much either way. Dude could be armed, not getting shot for her. What's more, filming it could be considered revenge porn and get you charged. 911 is about all I'd do.
Wow, it sounds like if a cop hadn’t just happened to walk in and see this, the guy would have completely gotten away with the crime.
I like to think I'd take the opportunity to shoot the guy and he'll either think about that when he's behind bars or die
As I said on another post about this: There are many reasons I carry a pocket knife, and this is one of them.
