I dont get it. In my country you can't cast a vote without presenting your id. Hell, the police can fine you if you're out as a minor after a certain hour without an id.

Because you can restrict the voter ID place, making it so there's only one place that will make acceptable forms of ID, and it's only open one hour a month, and shit like that. Racists are well practiced at this sort of thing.

I don't think needing an ID to vote is racist. At the same time, I can understand treating COVID seriously, though I fully support exceptions for those who can't get vaccinated.
It's the type of ID. I don't have a driver's liscence. I shouldn't need one to vote. The problem with voting ID laws is that they only allow specific types of ID.

Some places don't but I could vote in those places with my permit or non drivers liscence because I got it through the dmv.

So those that don't have street addresses don't count. Homeless, live on a reservation means you don't have a street address. You can still get a government ID. Still doesn't have a street address because you don't have one.

I gave an example of a type of law that was proposed. Most of the voter suppression laws I hear about are proposed and may be passed, but I don't know if they are until well afterwards. I remember hearing about one in Virginia or North Carolina that may have been passed. Also I would need to check on the Atlanta one, but since it caused MLB fo move the location of the ASG, it probably wasn't good. You can disagree with what they did, but in Atlanta it happened.

No idea why people are against voter ID. Where I live, you have to present your ID to two different voting officers before you can vote and no one complains.
As long as everyone who's eligible to vote has a suitable ID, there's no problem. The problem comes when some people don't. (And, it's also a solution without a problem; the number of cases of in person voter fraud in the whole US are in the double digits, if that.)
