There are so many things wrong with even suggesting this. I mean, should we enter into a gas chamber to know about the Holocaust? The point about discussing things like slavery is so people can learn from the past and NOT repeat it. To this day, we are still trying to abolish world wide slavery in which people like children, unfairly imprisoned people, youth brides, kidnapped migrants, an immigrants without papers are often forced to work and endure horrid conditions without pay. The energy should be focused on ending slavery not some one day gimmick that serves no purpose even if it were on people who were actually alive and who were enslavers. One day would never teach you what it's like to fully be a slave because in that case, you know your suffering is going to end in 24 hours. That's extremely reductive to think that short time could teach you what it's like to endure a lifetime of no freedom, pain, and degradation. I'd much rather people learn not to do that to anyone ever.

Why would I want anyone to endure slavery? I wouldn't want them to even experience what my parents and grandparents experienced, which was the Jim Crow South, where they were in fear for their lives during the Civil Rights movement.

Besides, racists rationalize away everything. They rationalize away genocide, theft, murder, racism, it doesn't matter. They simply believe some groups are better than others. . . with no logic, fact, or common sense to explain how these groups are formed, how to evaluate group behaviors or how to rank these figments of their imagination.

So even if they did spend time as a slave, an American Indian child in a boarding school, or even a Jewish girl in a concentration camp, they would rationalize how their worldview was still the correct one.
