Why would I need a photo ID to vote? I have to already register beforehand and still bring in some form of identification.

That being said, those who insist a photo ID should be required should be absolutely thrilled that this is a thing. You can use it to circumvent in person id requirements by not focusing on needing an ID to vote, but needing an ID to get on the premises just as it is a requirement for a movie theater.

To me:
Your first paragraph seems to be saying you DON’T think a photo ID should be required when voting (and therefore your answer to this GAG question is “Yes.”)

Not sure what point you are making in your second paragraph.

A photo ID isn't necessary to vote, nor should it be.

2nd paragraph:

For proponents of requiring a photo ID, they should be happy that this law for the vax cards/photo ID was passed.

By having it in place they can push for requiring a vax card/photo ID for going into the building to vote, therefore limiting voting rights even more.

I am not saying it is morally right, but it gives them exactly what they want.

I believe a photo ID SHOULD BE REQUIRED to vote because only the people with the right to vote should be voting; and photo IDs “prove who you say you are,” whereas showing a utility bill or bank statement or paycheck for identification purposes when voting does NOT prove that that is YOUR utility bill, bank statement, or paycheck

Proponents of requiring a photo ID for voting are just pointing out the hypocrisy of those jurisdictions (like Washington, DC) which have required photo IDs (and proof of vaccination) for getting into private establishments but are not requiring IDs for voting.

And if that were happening with regular frequency where people were voting for someone else you'd have already heard of it. Its completely rare for it to happen and when it does, those people get caught. Your trying to fix a non issue just to eliminate actual legal voters from voting.

Who do you think is being “eliminated” (or “discouraged”) from voting because they don’t already have a photo ID in 2022?

And why are photo ID’s universally useful & valid for proof of who you are when being stopped by the police while driving, and when writing a check, and when buying alcohol, and when getting on a plane; but not useful & valid when voting, and then (and only then) it’s “voter suppression”?

Nah, feel free to say that about me if you want. We haven't required it in elections in the past and it hasn't happened the way you are trying portray it. So there is no reason to require it other than to keep legal voters from voting.

Because driving, buying alcohol and getting on a plan are not constitutional rights. Easy.

Yeah because its a guaranteed right which you get once you are of age which you prove by bringing in any of the approved forms of id including non photo Id's. Not sure why thats hard to understand.

Those other things are not guaranteed rights. It's inhibiting those who can either not afford to pay for an id or do not have means of transportation to get one, say for example someone who is homebound due to a permanent medical condition.

Because showing a utility bill, bank statement, or paycheck, or other government document is all that’s needed for voter identification nowadays and I don’t think that’s as good as showing a photo ID…Documents can be found in the trash or stolen.

Also: to have a a utility bill, bank statement, or paycheck requires that you already have a place of residence (own a house/rent a place), have a bank account, and have a job and a person already needs to have an photo ID…“Not sure why thats hard to understand.”

Plus, it’s 2022 not the 20th century…who doesn’t have an iD in 2022?…sounds like it’s a big excuse for a probably negligible problem to me.

Maybe do more research before posting. There is still plenty of us citizens who don't have IDs

Those are just a few of the IDs there is also passport, social security card, birth certificate as viable ID's and that's why its hard for you to understand. You don't do research for things like this.

Whether you think its as good is inconsequential. There is a reason it is the law. It isn't a requirement nor should it be unless your goal is to prohibit legal voters from voting.
