Then why the heck 7 out of the 8 teams are already in a city with a NFL team lol
@Asker the XFL is going for the niche market in February and March where the only sports competition is college basketball before the March madness begins. If they can just get a few eyeballs they will be successful because as we know football is event viewing and it sell soap (advertisers) and gets people out to fill bars and sports pubs. I see your point about the cities already having nfl teams but think that’s strategic as they know those places have the fans and sporting establishments to support February viewership.
Still a minority and that does not change my view. I am still subjected to silly sports discussions that do not interest me.
It seems that you have a hard time accepting that others do not share your point of view. If that is the case, why do you even ask a question knowing that the entire world does not agree with you?
One of the best things about sports is it’s actual reality tv. Not too many tv shows require you to watch them live. And most reality shows are scripted. Sports for men is the ultimate soap opera filled with drama and juicy gossip.
I like that you admit to completely not be into sports. You don’t fake interest just because guys like it and I am sure if you date a sports fan you can find alone time to enjoy something while he takes in a game.
@ecfresh Your views make sense and I always appreciate your factual replies.
I just don't see myself in a relation with a person that spends his entire free time in front of the TV, hogging the remote, his feet on the coffee table and asking his girl to bring him a six pack of beer.
I know it is cliche but those sports guys are just what draws me away from them.
I know that you are a sports fan because of the background picture in your profile. I don't want to offend you in any way and I am sure you are the exception that confirms the rule.
But what good is a relation if sports predominates the entire discussions and I am being sent to my room and considered an outcast because it just does not interest me.
Ditto in appreciation of your GaG content. Yes I am really into sports as I grew up playing them and watching. I agree with you as with any activity doing then to excess is unhealthy and watching sports 24/7 promotes an unhealthy lifestyle. Currently I am single so I do have more free time to enjoy following sports but have noticed while in relationships sports often take a back seat to doing other activities and enjoying other aspects of life. In college when I entered into my first relationship it blew me away that the baseball World Series was on and I had little interest in watching the games because instead I was spending time at the beach or going to the Ren Festival with my girlfriend and then making out.. much more stimulating than a beer and the tv.
As with anything it’s about life balance. I wouldn’t want to be in relation with a girl who is a shopaholic and talks about little else than shopping. Wouldn’t be fun spending all day at the mall going from store to store and lugging around her purchases. It is fun when that activity is incorporated into a day that includes lunch at a new small bistro and then some beach volleyball that afternoon.
Conclude by saying I love my parents and they are great role models in my life. My mom could care less about sports! My dad loves sports. But they love each other and are best friends. So while dad and I are watching a Steelers game upstairs she is happy to have time doing her ceramics or working on a craft project in her craft room. They modeled for me how two people can have shared interest and individual interests and still be a successful marriage.
Let’s keep making GaG great again :)
