I played it a lot as a kid. I started probably around 8 years old and played it until I was maybe 23 on and off. As a young kid it was just time spent with my brother and dad. In my early teens it became more of a competitive game and sportsmanship between my brother and friends. Then it got boring after a while so we started drinking and only bringing two clubs to play drunk speed golf to make it more interesting. Get sloshed with limited options and run the course. Hahaha I haven’t played for a while.
no I'm older and I sold my clubs to a younger fella who was playing with his buddies.
It's a fun game, frustrating as hell too. If you are good, you can make a lot of $ at it at a young age, or older.
So get out there, and swing those clubs... hit that ball in the hole in as few strokes as possible... and try not to kill yourself, because one of my first times out I hit a tree, which bounced and hit me in the side. Golf is dangerous...:)
The normal citizen can barely afford to pay for memberships, green fees and all the other incentives ancillaries that come together with this type of sport.
It is perceived as a sport for those that can afford to miss work and do "business" on golf courses.
In my opinion, golf is a huge waste of time and money in addition to a non negligible cause of pollution and huge consumer of energy.
It’s popularity is waning. I won’t be surprised to see some courses, especially public courses, converted for other uses. It’s crazy to reserve 10 acres of scarce urban parkland for the use of a few hundred people.
