As someone who used to play semi-professional sports, I don't agree. Mind you, I've never been a competitive person to begin with.

For me the happiness I feel after a win is the same no matter by how much the win was. As long as I feel good about how I played, that is. If I feel like I didn't pull my weight, the win doesn't really feel that good.

I would disagree with this method of coaching.

If it was one time method to motivate someone, it would still be not acceptable but ok.

There is never a measurement for winning.

In fact small winnings help you build confidence to compete in bigger challenges.

No. Winning big means you're not getting a good competition. I'd say it's not worth winning if it's not close.
