and he said: "Bowling is an elite sport."

or would y'all say everyone is entitled to their own opinion?

I would understand this statement as he sees bowling more than just fun, but worthy of serious competition.

Everyone also is entitled to their own opinions yes.

I don't think so; I think he just takes bowling more seriously than he thinks you do.

so, you're saying he takes it more seriously than I would? i mean sure, you can compete in bowling, but I don't really think it's high class or anything nor is it an everyday sport.

Yeah. He sees it in a more competitive, professional way than you do. If you've never watched professional bowling, well it's not very interesting; it's just strike after strike after spare after strike. But it DOES get some bonus points for a being a sport where drinking and smoking are required parts of the pro circuit.
