I'm thinking about getting an iPhone, but I'm hesitant about that because they're really really expensive. I've never had one before, so I'm not sure what they have to offer or why the price is so much.
Do you feel like iPhones are worth the cost? Why or why not?

- Personally I find them expensive. They are a phone with a camera, this do not warrent cost about 4times more than my my cheap Nokia. It does everything I want it to do...Is this still revelant?
I agree. I don't feel like iPhones have very many extra features to warrant the extra cost.

633- They have remnants of Steve Jobs design. If you have an iMac or Macbook they work well together but expensive phones in general I've always thought were vanity items. I like cheaper phones because they are some of the few remaining phones that allow you to change the battery. I do own an iPhone however because I think they are made better than most Android phones. I've never owned an android anything where the charging cord lasted a year. After a few uses they seem to lose shape and become poor at charging and need to be replaced, The iPhone has long since been paid off and I'll use it until it breaks. I hope I don't need another phone until 5G is a second thought, I'm far more interested in getting off malware rife networks and into something that hasn't yet been overrun by hackersReact

Android chargers really do suck. I know that from experience.
I don't have Apple anything right now and never have. So an iPhone would be completely new to me because I've never even used the company before. So for me, I guess it would be more of a vanity item.
- Nope. My entire family has their iPhones, but I have refused since day one. To be fair, all phone brands market new products almost every year and try to upsell you on the latest and greatest, but I feel Apple is like a cult and they have managed to effectively convince most of their customers that they absolutely NEED a $500-1,000 phone every year because God forbid if they don't get it, they won't be cool.React

- I think it's a shame people put in good money to purchase iPhones or they are tied down to 24 months contracts, the pay on payment for the phone plus their monthly phone charge, recently on Teen Mom 2, the ones 10-year-old got an iPhone for her Birthday and it cost them like $586.00 that was all and then course she will have a monthly phone bill but my opinion iPhones seem to break easy and Apple seems not to care and I believe they should also include 2 years insurance for the phone tooReact

- I’ve always been really happy with mine... and I also haven’t upgraded since the X because they’re so damn expensive (or at least one that I’d really notice the improvement on). If I was looking for one on a budget I might get an Xr.
iPhones just... work. Everything works. Updates just happen. Your OS stays up to date. You have less ability to configure stuff than android but things work much much more smoothly out of the box. That said if you’re currently all in an android ecosystem it’s a significant switch (I’m the other way, my entire extended family is on iOS and my entire immediate family expects me to fix their stuff when they screw it up).
you could always buy a used one and try it for a while. If you don’t like it you sell it at a pretty small loss. Probably a bunch of people selling now to get 12s. Meanwhile the price you could get selling it won’t drop that much for a year till next models come out.ReactLike

- Being a techie, I kind of abhor iOS & elect to use Android. I also prefer PCs with Windows & Linux to MacOSX. The cost is obviously an issue, but I also like the option to have an open-source capability, more apps, & potentially expandable memory. Not to mention, I don't like Apple's restrictions for peripherals (charging cords, adapters, & accessories). Unless you're trying to be an amateur photographer with money to burn, I suggest going with a more affordable option (& add a protection plan, if you so choose). Good luck! If you need suggestions, let us know what you're looking for in a phone.React

Being a techie is such a good hobby to have! I feel like that would make life so much easier, to be able to figure out I. T. issues on your own!
- My opinion in iPhone is they are expensive for what they are, restrictive to the user and app developers are getting a raw deal. And they all look the same.
They do have a stylish appeal and the restrictions in place make them more secure.
I will still stick with android as I prefer the flexability and don't want to look like a sheep following the rest of the hurd!ReactLike

- I buy an iPhone every 5-10 years I don’t buy a phone every time a new one comes out. iPhone have better quality apps especially the free essential apps that come with the phone. but your restricted to what iPhone allows. Android is more free and you can do a lot more things and have access to apps Apple would never allow. However it’s prone to virus and some of the standard free apps you get with apple you either have to find and download or pay monthly. Basically it’s what you need in a phone that should drive youReact

I buy iPhones when my phone doesn’t work too good. I had iPhone 6 for years, I bought iPhone 7 months ago, got it on sale for $199. Apple made iPhone 12 Pro, I’m not interest in.
- It definitely depends, first of all, everyone linkes one system better (I person prefer Android over IOS). But what you have to keep in mond is that it's easier if it's the same for all your devices. Different chargers and the way you transfer data (if you don't do it over online storage) might get complicated... for me the cheaper models were always great and I am not as afraid to drop it by accident 😅React

Cheap is always a good thing!
And you have a good point about the chargers. I have a ton of Android chargers already, so it would suck to have to waste them and start buying iPhone chargers. My family for example only uses Android phones as well so I don't have to worry about not having a charger when I visit home, that's practical. Same with most friends.
And I like listening to music old style with wire headphones :) gives me so kind of vibe, I don't know. Do you already have wireless headphones? Because otherwise you might need to get an adapter for your old ones.
- no, cause you pay way more for equal hardware from other companies.
yes, cause other companies typically won't support their products for that long. with android you typically get maximum 3 years support and with apple 6, so you theoretically would only have to buy a phone half as often.
practically though, apple products don't last 6 years physically so that's not a benefit you can typically profit from.ReactLike

Replaced it when handed down. They then cut the price of battery replacements like 2 months later... and sent me the savings without me asking.
@0112358 oh yeah I remember they had to cut prices cause there was a call back with the batteries in that particular phone. But usually you'd have a broken home key at that point, cause those were not very durable.
- iPhones are dumb way to steal money which they basically succeed cus of all dummys that buy it. Psht I rather buy more important stuff then that shxt , I'm always an android user nuff saidReact

That's what I'm trying to find out lol. I know absolutely nothing about iPhones. I just know they have some really hard-core fans so that leaves me wondering what all the hype is about.
I think it is like talking to rednecks about Ford vs. Chevy trucks. Much ado about nothing.
- I had 2 3GS's after the 5 had launched
One fell apart and the other I traded in as I couldn't be bothered with a phone at the time... then I bought a decent Android for under £200 and another and this is my 3rd in 4 years but busted the board on the first as I never took it off charge, the second met a watery end or so I thought and this is goodReactLike

- No, i would always go for a phone for no more than 250 bucks, like the Samsung A6 i got now, I don't think a 1000 Iphone offers anything more than what the cheap ones do.React

I definitely wouldn't be getting one of the $1000 ones! I would stick to the iPhones that are a bit lower priced.
Its up to you to decide,
but if i can get a phone for 250, why should i pay 4 times as much, with no real benefit. I rather use the 700 bucks for something else.
- Nobody has given me a good reason to have an expensive phone until now. I still use other devices for gaming and other stuff, and my phone just for calls and messagingReact

can also lease one for a monthly rate at the bigger carriers if you can't cover the cost up front.
ok might be closer to $399 at some places. but still roughly have the cost of the top model ones that are $1.000+

with modern smart phones. even if you own the physical phone. you don't always own the software on the phone. so the company that makes the phone/software. can always brick you phone anytime they want. typically by slowing the phone down a bit more with each new update. forcing you to get a new phone every 2-5 years anyway.
Yeah, but if you lease the phone then you have to give it back. That means if you break it, you're f*cked.
which is why I typically opt to buy my phones out right. also keep my older ones in case new one breaks. because the older one can be turned on for a short while. to at least get calls and text if nothing else. while I wait for the insurance claim or save to buy a new one.
I have about a dozen phones from different plan companies that are out dated but still work. so can just reactivate one of those if I need to for a short while.
when my kids get older plan to just give them my old hand me downs to use for basic stuff. rather not give them a top of the line model unless. they can pay for the phone and monthly plan themselves.
- It’s worth it I think. Hard to imagine life without my iPhone...React
