How do you feel about the release of the PS5?

I'm more into the new Xbox Series X, which may be a "money grabber" as you say. I don't really have time to play video games atm, but I have an Xbox One and was interested in the Xbox One X, so the Series X is on my radar if I get into a situation where I am going to buy a tv and play video games again. But for now I have too many other productive important things to do.
I have consistently been in favor of Xbox over PS. I started with Nintendo, then switched to Xbox. I had a PS for a while for a couple games like Resident Evil, but Xbox just has more of what I like and I think better performance/graphics and mod-ability. It's more like an actual computer. I used to have a modded Xbox with expanded drive, where I could copy any game. Combined with the local game store offering a "5 games, 5 days, $5" promotion, I quickly had a digital library of over 30 games. (which cost me less than $200, which would get you about 4-5 games new).
Also, I don't know about PS5, but the new Xbox you can load a game, pause it, load another game, play it, then switch back to the game you paused. Having much faster/little load times is pretty incredible. I think so much time (adds up to hours) is spent waiting on load time, which we might not notice but it all adds up. I know my Xbox One it would be long enough loads sometimes I would make a point to go to the bathroom, make a snack, etc.
I've stopped caring about consoles two generations ago when they removed the advantage of consoles over PCs. Aka when you needed a internet-connection and got updates for your games rather than them working flawless out of the box.
It's about Usercontrol and data gathering. Fortunately I grew up with NES SNES and N64 where that wasn't an issue.

What's Your Opinion? Sign Up Now!Don't care at all. The current (previous?) console generation of the X-bone, PS4, and Switch (still an absolute sh*tty name) are all trash. Only a few good games on the latter two (like Spider-Man, Breath of the Wild, Smash Ultimate, Mario Odyssey, etc), nothing whatsoever worth owning on the Microsoft box, and no game worth buying an entire console over. I'm an adamant gamer, too. After years of not being able to afford/know-how-to-build a PC, I finally just bought a gaming PC for $800 and have no plans to return to console gaming, unless they make a Switch whose hardware doesn't suck, or Playstation starts putting out some more good games. But I see no reason to even continue with consoles anymore, in the 2020s. Not sure if we'll ever make it to that memetic "PlayStation 9."

I remember waking up in Christmas when I was younger to my dad having bought a PS3 and a few games, and being blown away at how cool it was
They have their place in houses, and by staying relatively affordable and increasing their graphics/loading speed makes all the better.
I admit that the jump from current gen to next gen isn't as high as it used to be, but that's irrelevant in the face of progress, since any progress is good progress in most cases
I'm super excited for PS5. I'm annoyed that it won't be available to me until the 19th (assuming my local shop actually has it by then). I'm especially looking forward to Demon's Souls remake. The game looks so beautiful, better than anything I've seen on PC (I have a gaming PC).
The price is painful yes. Mine will actually be more expensive than the "official" price (about $700 for the digital console). But I want the games. Demon's Souls is PS exclusive; and I want to play stuff like DMC5:SE in bed on a big TV rather than at my desk.
I disagree about the money grab thing. It's just as much of a sink as into PC. The latest graphics cards and tidbits are pretty expensive. I know that I have to save up almost $5000 for the PC gaming rig and setup I plan to give myself in 2022. Being a gamer is expensive.
A consoling thought; PS5 is still cheaper than the latest Iphone (I consider expensive phones to be the real money grabbers).
Graphics wise? Theyre fully capable of 4k now, and 120hz, with spec bumps that literally take giant dumps on last gen. The series X is more powerful than most pcs now, with the zen 2 8/16 chip, and the graphics power has come to the level of a RTX 2070. So yeah I'd say people are pretty excited to be able to play Forza above 30fps now, and be more competitive in apex and fortnite and call of duty at 120fps. And the graphics will be much better with ray tracing and adaptive sharpening. So I'm not sure what you mean at all.
I will tell you when a Play Station is better than this
Many who never used a PC have no idea how powerful it can be, they always choose simplicity, insert cd and play and that's it.
The picture u showed here , the PC may cost well over 1k usd , or maybe sometimes even more than 5k usd , don't compare a 5000 dollar device with something worth 399 dollars. It's so stupid.
@imthequeen Here is the difference of what you call ''stupid''
First of all this is a 2k pc (cheap because i built it my self) , then you have many will buy the bigger PS that goes for 499 plus tax. The games that are sold on xbox live and PS store are a little bit more expensive than windows games (not always) then you have to pay membership to be online and the pc user doesn't do that, then you buy another hand controller and that is at least 60 dollars. Then you have the (crossplay pass) which sadly that cost too. I can do more a lot with a PC and the price is worth it than buying one console that i will be limited to what and how much i can do with it. 2000 dollars in total vs console 500 dollars, extra hand controller 60 dollars, online membership about 50 dollars, a TV than can handle the new console performance (which not many thought about) and it will be a problem just wait for it and you will see and hear about a lot and little i can do with it!!! I think it depends on who you art talking to because a PC is always worth the price over a console and that's why there is more PC gamers than all consoles combined. And there is many cheap PCs that preform well as a ps5
dude , you're stupid as hell , i dont even know how the fuck does a pc relates to a console , they both are 2 completely different machines. people have different choices , different budgets , a pc that's just as strong as the ps will cost way over 3k i bet , and still there's literally no point in comparing these 2 devices
@imthequeen wow!!! So disrespectful. Thanks i guess. Have you ever won an discussion by being disrespectful?
@Jaximus-Lion I don't think she is experienced with PCs. She kinda proved the point in your original comment lol. Computers can be extremely powerful without spending $2000CAD ($1500USD).
I think insert cd and play is just very welcoming for the majority of consumers though. PCs are a big investment too if you are young.
I spent about $1000usd 4 years ago and my computer is still going strong.
Well i didn't expect a 16 yo to understand what i explained. My new investment is for my youtube channel and am trying to make things look good for me and my viewers. What games do you play?
Oh my cousin plays it since 2016 he is obsessed, it looks great but i haven't play it yet.
Do you stream or do you have a youtube channel?
I'm indifferent for the most part.
I grew up playomg PlayStation.
Ps2 and Ps3.
I still own my ps3 and play certain games on it.
I own a PS Vita and I play certain games on that too.
My brother owns a Ps4, but I never really play it.
It's like after the Ps4 came out I kinda stopped caring about PlayStation, so I don't see myself buying the Ps5 anytime soon.
I kinda grown to be more on an nintendo fan, after buying an Nintendo Switch I've been feeling satisfied for what I have and I don't think I'm going to buy any new systems anytime soon.
I'm pretty happy about it, one less secret to keep 😁 I've actually worked on software surrounding it and been part of the development for one of the games. So now I hope to see a lot of people enjoy my work 😊 I'll get one myself too, even if just to try my own work 😁
A bunch of my friends just got them. They seem to be liking it. I think they play Call Of Duty. I can’t speak on any of it, I almost never get to play video games, and when I do, I play my old PS2 and XBox 360. So I’m on pace to get a PS5 around 2030, I’ll get back to you on that lmao. I’m hearing these things sold out and are going for like $1,800 through private re-sellers.
Pretty excited about it, But I feel like I am at that age where I don't really play that many games anymore so I feel like my time will go to that if I did get it, I'm actually saving up to build my own PC and start getting used to playing games on PC instead, that way I could still use a controller as I learn to play on keyboard
Absolutely no way I can buy it, BUT I am excited for it's release because the price of PS4 games will drop after a while so I'll be able to afford more of those
Buying a first generation console was last time a good thing when ps1 came out...
You can already find out that it will overheat in under 2 hours, save space is already too small, and no mods... no thanks, I buy no things which are still in prototype state
I'm waiting a year, consoles always seem busted af at release
@CrazyRay43 I remember seeing many people having defective Switch consoles when they came out
Kinda excited, I guess. Our PS4 is working fine and we still have some games we haven’t finished the story on yet. We never buy consoles at release anyway. My husband said he’s gonna wait a year or so to get us one unless I really want one sooner.
Interested in the new tech but cannot justify buying any of it. More interested in the streaming services and for that I need a suitable client. Maybe Google TV is ironically the way to go (not for psnow though)
Im more intrested in the switch than anything else, and pc is just superior anyway
its overrated to me. people have PS4s in good condition and are already talking about getting a PS5. it's a waste of money to me unless you don't have one.
I completely agree. I don't know if you're familiar with computers, but it's exactly like all the GTX 2080 owners who are panicking to get their hands on a new 3080 graphics card. Like I bet their setup will be the same speed as before. The only people who need the newest graphics cards are people who do rendering and 3d modelling.
I don’t really care but my brother just bought the ps5 and he was excited
I'm probably gonna buy one but I don't know when yet. I'm gonna wait a little bit.
I'm PC Masterrace all the way, so it doesn't affect me at all. 😆
I had a PS1 when I was in 7th year at school so my answer is "old".
