Instagram wants me to add number to get back into my Instagram and when I do it doesn’t and me a code?

I would really like to answer this question. Once there was an experience regarding instagram. I used to have an instagram account link with my number but latter due to some issues I have deleted my account and latter made a new account with my new number. After couple of years someone created a fake account with my that phone one and that account got link with my phone number even without getting any verification. I really annoyed me as a fake profile was created using my credentials without informing or verification. Few of my friends told me about the situation and eventually instagram block that account.
