But as we were taught in school, democracy is about equality. What they didn't tell us is in which of the two equal parts we belong.
@TheFlak38 They teach democracy in school, but we're not a democracy. We're a people's republic. Madonna is part of the people, so am I, and so are you. Being a celebrity doesn't exempt her friends being arrested for conspiracy of treason and threatening the president's life. If you or I said this, we would be arrested. The same rules should apply to her

we can't arrest everyone who makes an idle threat. we have reserve that for threats with actual potential
But saying she is thinking about it is.
@Thisperson98 No I might say that I am so angry that I want to kill you but It shouldn't be taken seriously. It is not a crime.
It is a crime technically because it can be perceived as a threat.
@Thisperson98 inciting the murder of our head of state is treason
@Thisperson98 Her words shouldn't be perceived as a criminal threat, since when we arrest people for their thoughts? Not a single reasonable person would perceive it as a threat, since It is clear that her intention wasn't really blowing up of The White House. There doesn't exist criminal threat without intention. It might be uncomforting or offending for some people but It definitely is not crime. Threat should be 1. credible2. Realand 3. Imminent in case to be perceived as a criminal threat and victim should feel afraid that this person will really commit a crime. But her speech didn't meet none of these criteria. Especially after she said that She knows It won't change anything. After saying that we can't even say that she incites others to commit a crime cause she sends the message that blowing up of white house wouldn't have any result. I am sure you already read the similar case U. S. v. Watts.
If they arrest Madonna for her speech It will mean that in 1969 America was way more progressive than it is today.
I can see your argument. But saying that online is classified as a threat. Whether you say you are 'thinking or planning it is a threat. And a threat on a government building with arms or bombs... yes that is a crime. Big difference between ''thinking something'' and posting it online for many people to see.
