The other option to take the complex out is to send actual soldiers in there. The fact that many ied's and roadside bombs were present next to many terrorist would make it extremely hazardous. There could be many dead soldiers if they tried to go in on foot, therefore it is much easier to bomb it rather than risk dozens of lives
@qdoek is that the only other option? you don't think that ISIS can just rebuild tunnels? they did the same thing during Vietnam. they'd blow up North Vietnamese and Vietcong tunnels only to have the enemy rebuild them or already have secondary tunnels in place.we can't know the effectiveness of this tactic for years but we do that historically this hasn't really been a deterrent to radical islamists. as i said i don't believe the war on terror is going to be won by military campaign. it's a war of beliefs. bombing tunnels in afghanistan isn't going to stop terrorists in Europe, Africa and other Middle Eastern countries. to win the war on terror changing the minds of people and their ideologies is the method
I am pretty sure your number is wrong. $16 million for a MOAB? You've got to be kidding me. A MOAB is essentially any normal bomb shoved full of high explosives. It is too heavy to be a missile, so it's gravity driven when dropped from a plane. It has some very basic guidance software to direct its path when dropped. There's no way it could possibly be $16 million. I wouldn't even put the cost above $500,000.A cruise missile costs $2 million, and it can be launched from a submarine, travel 1,000 kilometers and strike within 3 feet of its taget.
@meowcow The production cost of the twenty M. O. A. B. bombs made was $314 million so they are quite expensive.
Like I said, where did you get your value from? I did a google search and a MOAB costs $170k. Your cost makes absolutely no sense. Given a MOAB is just a dumb bomb with very basic guidance systems, there's absolutely no way it could cost more than a million.I searched for your value of $314 million. There's absolutely nothing to back that value up. All I found was a vague reference that "social media" says it is $314 million. The pentagon quote is $170,000. As I said, given the limited technology in a MOAB, it makes no sense that a single MOAB costs more than 3 blackhawk helicopters.
@meowcow This is because the air force spokesperson can't make up his mind which figure should be associated with a per unit cost and how much initial development costs. In any event these wars around the world need to stop and we need to invest in America not some middle eastern country.
You do know the government of Afghanistan is also fighting against ISIS in its country so this bombing was beneficial for them? Therefore they are thankful rather than angry
@qdoek you do know the US and Trump don't really give a shit about any of those countries issues and this is all just about seeking more power?
I know however I don't get how you get to the conclusion that one of the countries (such as Afghanistan or Iraq) get tired of the US fighting for them whilst they are grateful for it since they need the help
@qdoek i didn't say it was gonna be one of those specifically. I meant, in general, the US is always fucking everyone else up (I currently live in South America so that obviously includes the countries here too) and one day, one country's gonna fight back
Fucked you up, what because we overthrew a few Soviet allied governments? Socialism is crap like in Venezuela, capitalism is the only way to go.
Thanks for mho
You're Welcome :)
You realize that the amount spent on Healthcare is much higher don't you.
@Jackblue I realize that we spend more on defense than the next 7 countries combined, and yet my conservative friends balk when a one payer health care system is even mentioned, even though every other industrialized country in the world save the US has a single payer government run system.
If we did not have such high military spending (and an emphasis on protecting the world) those pampered Europeans with their free healthcare and exorbitant welfare states would have fallen to the Nazis or Soviets long ago.
@Jackblue we don't protect the world. We make rich people richer. Granted there have been wars that had to be fought. Don't you think though that the healthcare and education of our own is more important than feeding the military industrial complex with our hard earned dollars?
And that goes for the Japanese too who the Chinese have never forgiven for WWII.
@Jackblue What amazes me is that Trump is ready to throw out most tax money earmarked for scientific inquiry and at the same time reject scientific conclusion. Back to the stone age. And with big weapons too.I guess stupid is as stupid does.
The Military Industrial Complex as you call it is what provides us (and others) both with safety and the industrial production needed to provide for people's needs. Rich people get richer in our society by providing more for the general populace. The needs of the rich and poor are not exclusive but in fact tied together.
Liberals reject science all the time if it doesn't suit their agenda.
@Jackblue There are so many issues in that statement that should be plumbed. I really don't think you understand what it is you have posited. I have to get a run in and then we should continued. I would really like to converse with you a little more.
Well talk to me when you can.
Thank you for your opinion and liked :) xx
Thank you, handsome. xx

The chance of innocent lives lost is nought since it was dropped in an uninhabited remote area in Afghanistan. Normal targets bombings wouldn't cut it to destroy the many tunnels, to destroy underground tunnels you'll need bombs with a much bigger shockwave like this bomb
@qdoek The true figures of innocent lives lost will come after 5 years. Before this bomb was dropped America has used other bombs including cluster bombs with great effect.
My hope exactly, perhaps we can be rid of North Korea without losing any soldiers or getting our hands dirty.

Yeah, defending innocent children poisoned by Sarin gas is a terrible option. He should let more murderers ans drug dealers out of jail so they can sell drugs in schools.
@kickme or let known terroristic folks go in exchange for a deserter. Even though we still have many innocent people that you don't even hear negotiations to help get them back home.
@WriterAndPainter careful, Soteris probably forgot that was Osama that did that
@kickme I like how its suddenly relevant that civilians gets murdered by strikes when just a little while ago it was a large success when you called airstrikes that killed 30 of them (many women and children) because you fucked up the planning phase in an operation. Not to mention that what Donald Trump did is just going to make things worse, not better.
there's no debating liberals, I can't explain anything in a simple enough manner to make sense to you. Go commit some property damage crimes because the police killed a fleeing felon.
@kickme Even when you try sound reasonable you sound like a complete lunatic you know.
Yes of course, maybe you can go help Hilary decide what to do with the money the Saudi Prince gave her.
@kickme Do you mind if I start using Ctrl-V when answering you?
If your out of ideas for replys, maybe you can invite some illegals into your house to help you. I'm sure your against border enforcement so the door of your home should be open to everyone
@kickme Its not about that. Its just that you expose yourself as being completely bonkers each and every time so its completely pointless to retort in the first place.
Did a refugee, umm I mean jihadist help you with that reply?
@kickme You say it like its me who needs help here.
I think they should play that POD song
Since the start of the "War on Terror" there are now more terrorists. The U. S. military makes it easier for terrorist groups to recruit more members when they kill civilians as Trump has done in Mosul. Our drone strikes killed 90% civilians according to internal government documents and trump has loosened the rules of engagement and increased the number of strikes. So yes in will lead to more terrorists therefore more terrorist attacks.

The size of the bomb is of no account what matters is what it does and if it just wiped out much of Isis in Afghanistan than I would say it was a very good thing.
Because he's the commander in chief. He did not authorize it, but I guarantee you he had some sort of knowledge this was going to happen. Regardless of what the media says. The media right now is making a big deal that he said "my military". They aren't even focused on the real issue. The military is his military just like the military is my military. The military of the United States of America belongs to we the people.
Yes Donald Trump is stirring up North Korea he is biting off more than he can chew for sure. Thanks for your opinion.
People almost always say that when we goto war, the Iraq war had an approval rating of 80% when we started it, now people are against it. Since trump is new people see it as a sign of strangth like he's taking out the bad guys because cable news networks ignore civilian casualties but over time people will flip on his foreign policy actions.
Cemeteries are full of people who couldn't be missed.
