That stat isn't quite accurate and it applies to all transgender not just those in military. Not to mention, you ever think they're suicidal because of how society treats them? Like why is this even a debate? Not to mention, if they were unfit for duty (physically or mentally) they wouldn't be in the military.
@thirdgamer13 I know it applies to all of them, that's the point.Already considered it but it doesn't change anything. Even if that wasn't the case transgenderism also known as gender dysphoria medically is a mental disorder which automatically bans you from military service.It's not a debate it's already been decided and implemented. The military isn't a right either it's a privilege.And let me ask you this, give me one example of how letting transgenders in the military helps protect America, our people and our interests?
That has nothing to do with it and no compromise will be reached it was the leaders of the military themselves who wanted this.
@Phoenix98 how you know?
Because what was stated after the president got done meeting with the heads of the military and discussing what should be done and it was decided by both the head of the military and the president that transgenders should be denied service.On top of that transgenderism medically is a mental disorder/disease. And 45% of transgenders are suicidal, have committed suicide or have attempted it, and are more prone to suffering from depression, anxiety and other disorders.And the military denies service to people suffering from depression, suicidal history, anxiety and a whole slew of mental disorders. See for yourself.https://youtu.be/WZLDNUWFLas
@Phoenix98 so that's what I said. The medical liability basically...
No that's exactly what you were saying.
@Phoenix98 so it does have everything to do with it lol
Because being in the military has certain requirements. One of those requirements is being of a sound mind, which people with gender dysphoria are not.
I don't think that being transgendered makes someone not sound minded. Once they discover their identity, and are comfortable with themselves, they are sound minded again.
Suicide is common among post operative trans people.
Yes, because everyone has their these awful ideas about trans people, and they don't have any support, thus thinking it's their only option. If people supported their decisions they would have a lower suicide rate.
There's several reasons why people are against them serving:- Transgender people is more likely to get symptoms like depression, anxiety and suicide thoughts. The suicide rate lies around 40%.- Medical treatment like hormones is impractical. How are they going to cope with it if they're going to serve it in Iraq or Afghanistan? What if they gets empty? It's much more baggage.- Military often pays for medical treatment and it gets expensive.- Some unstable closet-transgender people joins the military to cope with their anger-issues and to hide their trans-identity which may be a burden for the military. Especially MTFs does it.

Do you mean with paperwork or do you mean being housed together with people of the same biologically sex as them? I thinks cis-women for example would be uncomfortable being around a bearded muscular trans man although he's assigned female at birth because hormones can altering their appearance.
@curiousnorway No, that "bearded" trans man would have to stop taking testosterone and be a woman.
If that's the requirement, then banning transgender people joining the military is a better option in my opinion. The majority of truly transgender people have gender dysphoria which gives them symptoms like depression, anxiety and suicide thoughts due being uncomfortable with their bodies. The only way to ease these symptoms are them going on hormones and getting surgery so they looks like the opposite sex. Another thing is that if a trans man have been on hormones for more than some months it's some permanent changes. So the person would still look like a man although they've quit testosterone. But trans women however don't get so permanent changes on estrogen and can therefor look like a man when they quits it if they hasn't undergo any facial surgeries or hormone blockers in their teens.
