P. S. As an aside, the Speaker announced that the State of the Union will not go forward on January 29 as originally planned. She stated that all she promised is that she would hold talks with the White House as to when it might be held only after the government re-opened.That is a massive slap in the face to the President and is indicative that the Democrats feel that they won. This in turn suggests that they will take a very hard line on the border wall/fence/barrier and that the President is not apt to get much of what he wants.
They opened for the Super Bowl. I'm not even kidding. It may stay open, but that's why it's open now rather than later. Trump, the House, and the Senate, couldn't afford to have all of the federal security going unpaid and half-assed at one of our biggest spectacles and potential terrorism target.
@NYCQuestions1976 It doesn't matter NYC, it is only a secret to Trump supporters that too many republican pols owe their livelihood to corporate interests. No dem or repub can hold the line for a shutdown for too long because corporate interests invest heavily in both parties. They make money off government agencies. This has been true for centuries. So it doesn't matter that it was the Superbowl coming up. Everyday the government is shutdown those interests lose money for some of the reasons you stated. But our whole transportation system was on the verge of failing. Big corporate interests cannot have that.Corporate interests make all manner of money off the government through contracts and subsidies, corporate welfare, etc.All that money dried up. So Trump could only keep things shut down for so long. But the funny thing is when the government goes back into operation, those interests will demonize the government workers all over again. And trump supporters will buy it. It is funny how the American voter is basically herded from issue to issue like cattle.
I heard it is too, 'cuz they couldn't reach a deal, but people said it ended, so I don't know.
What about France? Are the yellow vest protests still taking place?
it didn't ended to what I heard Trump do a little break (or something like that) but it didn't ended.
Yellow vests are still taking place yes, they're still active
That's what I heard too. Some people said it ended temporarily, because he didn't want there to not be security at the Super Bowl, but it's gonna resume after.I remember it shutdown a few times under Obama, but not for THIS long
What are they protesting again? I forgot.
I don't remember hearing about it during Obama. It's true this one is really long. In France they say he's like a yellow vest XDThey protest cause they're sick to have to pay so much tax and they want to get paid more to be able to live better.
The Obama one wasn't a big deal. Even here they barely talked about it. I think they're just talking about this one because it's Trump and it's because of the border wall. Also, some national parks were vandalized during shutdown. That's a common thing to protest it seems. I'm surprised Californians don't protest high taxes
Yes, surely. they surely wanted to make fun of Trump or to show that he aren't as popular or stuff like that.Yes. They should protest too XD
But most of them are Democrats, so they support it and there are too few Republicans here to make an impact. There was a petition opposing a new gas tax, and it passed anyways.People voted THREE times AGAINST gay marriage, but our governor allowed it anyways. Now, our governor wants to start taxing people for sending text messages. We recently elected a new governor, but he was the Lieutenant Governor to our previous one, so like Vice President, so he will basically do all the same things the previous one did.But when he came down when we had the fire, he seemed to at least be getting along better with Trump. I HOPE he will be better than our previous governor.
That sound so fucked up seriously. It's like in France they don't care if we vote or not they do what they want. We had vote to get a new airports but the government decided to not do it.
Really? My dad would be sad to hear what France has become. That is very sad, really.
Yes but anyway in general we don't even vote anymore, it's the government who decide everything alone cause French people are "Too dumb to understand that" to what they say so...Yes, that really sad

I thought Mexico was paying for it. He wants money from the Dems too?
LOL. Super Bowl? Is that THIS Sunday?
No. The first Sunday in February. That's why the government is open now rather than later. Trump, the House, and the Senate, couldn't afford to have all of the federal security going unpaid and half-assed at one of our biggest spectacles and potential terrorism target.
He passed it to open today about 2:00- 3:00 p. m. Jan 25, 2019
The shutdown is not ending at all, it will be reopened for 3 weeks so that the governament can function as they will negotiating. If no deal is reached in 3 weeks it will be closed again and it can then be blamed entirely on the democrats.
Public opinion polling says otherwise. Americans overwhelmingly blame Trump. He has no political capital left. He has to cave.
Unfortunately many people are misinformed, although i do not blindly believe the polls. I would like what audience was polled and with what question / information. This is a clever move, trump shows he is willing to let the people have a government as long as negotiations over the funding happen. Earlier the democrats did not want to negotiate at all so its a win for trump. If they now refuse to reach a compromise with trump they will be solely to blame for the second shutdown. All in all there is a high chance the wall funding will get trough.
That's still a longass time though. Someone said it was because of the Super Bowl
Lol not sure about that 😂😂
Someone said it's because he doesn't want the Super Bowl unguarded
