Apparently vessels of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard removed some limpet mine from the ship afterwards, which immediately makes them suspicious. As the IRGC apparently does not have the same leadership of the army and has a distinctly different role, one might also guess that it is the sign of a fissure in Iranian military command, rather than an operation ordered by the highest level of Iranian officials. The Iranian military clearly is not a monolithic entity, so perhaps a rational reason for top officials is not what one must look for. That is, of course, assuming some Iranian entity is responsible for it.
And then, once again assuming Iran actually did it (which could be not true which makes everything I'm saying redundant), they could have diverted attention from putting mines on the ship by lobbing projectiles in the air. That would explain both those 'limpet mines' on the ship and the statement by that company's president. Once again, assuming they did it.
But yeah, more info is needed
@tartaarsaus Also possible, assuming the video is trustworthy. If the Iranian Revolutionary Guard really isn't exactly as subservient to Tehran, their actions can deviate even wildly if their interests vary that much.Whatever the truth, hopefully cooler heads will prevail. Otherwise (God forbid!), we could be involved in an invasion of a country 4x iraq's size, but so much worse.www.theatlantic.com/.../www.washingtonpost.com/.../www.huffpost.com/.../opinion-parsi-war-with-iran_n_5abd46fde4b055e50acc2e82
You are 100% right!! My Dad alwsys said id the CIA says something know it's Fabricated Complete Lie!!! He was a Navy Seal sent on a lot of Missions because of Fabricated Lies ftom the CIA
Actually, back then, most of the intelligence sources (ours and others) insisted that Iraq did NOT have WMD/ But Bush wanted to go to war and ignored them and claimed that he knew better. (Sound like anyone we know now?)
Red_Arrow, yes, but at least Bush 2 had a personal vegeance score to settle this Dumbass just wants to go in the History Books over and over again he doesn't care if it's as the Worse and Dumbest President Ever and at the sake of this Country.
LuWe: Iran is a likely instigator of the attacks. But with Trump and his white house staff, you just can't believe what they say. I hate saying this, but I simply don't trust Trump and his white house, or anything they say, after all the lies, subterfuge, paternalism, and law breaking.
Lol now the US actually released high resolution imagery of it
Okay. Where can I look at it?

Allegedly, Iranian forces attempted at shooting down a US drone around that ship before the attack happened. It was apparently watching Iranian forces in the general area
Japan obviously has strong ties with the USA and they are complying with American sanctions of Iran in regards to oil. A lot of people would see Japan as a puppet of the USA in international diplomacy especially when dealing with Iran. America typically sends in third party negotiators to build a case over time that all options have been exhausted. Iran is on the shit list for future wars so observers could easily see Japan as part of the problem for Iran and label them as part of the enemy force. It’s pretty easy to see why Iranians might not like the Japanese and make a statement while their diplomats are there.
@BeMuse, sorry, but I have a hard time buying that. There would be absolutely no benefit to Iran. If they were inclined to blow up some ships, it seems like Japanese would have been the worst choice. On the other hand, it would benefit the U. S. greatly if Japan and the rest of the world "thought" Iran attacked those tankers. Maybe the U. S. was sending a message to Japan that diplomatic relations with Iran in defiance of U. S. orders would be "costly" in more ways than one. The U. S., acting at the behest of its "good allies" Israel and Saudi Arabia, needs everyone on board with the idea that Iran is malevolent and belligerent. The completely insane war mongers in charge of U. S. foreign policy will never rest until they can start a world war against Iran. False flag attacks have become sop for the U. S. The Iranian limpet mine scenario that they tried to float has been debunked. But that won't stop them from continuing to push propaganda and confusion in order to justify aggression.
Now think outside your small box. Follow me... How does this benefit Turkey?abcnews.go.com/.../turkey-us-sailors-leave-attacked-26869607Everyone in a country dose not walk lock and step with the leader of a country. Angry people take things into their own hands. Iran has funded and supplied tons of terrorists and even their military don’t all follow the same command. So there are many Iranian groups that are funded and well supplied that could lash out against what they see as a US puppet in protest… It doesn’t have to be government sanctioned to be of Iranian origin.I know certain fringe groups in the USA want to go to war with Iran, but they don’t get there by attacking a Japanese commercial vessel. It does nothing to convince an average American. However a Japanese envoy going to Iran and failing in a diplomatic mission that latter down the road leads to a multitude of countries at the U. N. seeing Iran as a bad guy is beneficial in a march to war. It’s a long game of getting all pawns in the right structure, not a gambit… When something bad that actually affects average Americans happens and a lot of other countries are on board, more Americans than not will probably go along with an attack. No one in America is going to war over a Japanese commercial vessel being attacked half way around the world. We don’t give a shit about that. The USA does however spend a lot of money protecting the oceans so that oil can be smoothly delivered to our country, so we notice people that repeatedly attack trade vessels ours or others. It's news worthy but not war worthy.
@BeMuse, golly, I'll have to get out of my small box and start paying more attention to mainstream U. S. media. Maybe I should give more credibility to Pompeo and Bolton. lol
You just keep parroting the same shit over and over. You haven’t displayed any critical thinking skills. I haven’t watched mainstream media in 19 years. How about you? I bet you watched it today... Your talking points sound like a typical headline.
@BeMuse, you haven't consumed mainstream media since you were 10? I call bullshit. And even it that is the case, based on your enlightened insights I hate to imagine where you DO get your information.I quit watching TV in 2000 and realized quite a few years ago that even corporate owned mainstream print and radio rarely allow anything contrary to the official narrative to sneak through. But I don't have to prove anything to a self important, abusive 29 year old who parrots the official government narrative and not only displays unimaginative opinions but an inability to engage in civil discussion.
Sure you did... Just copy my number. A true liar.
First you parrot media headlines and now you parrot me. You are the least free thinking person I have ever met.
"I will believe our military and intelligence assessments" I will once Hillary becomes honest and trustworthy.
Ilorando: Still stuck in the past I see. That's what happens when Republicans are so bad currently, you have to go to the past and dig up old dirt. As they say. Any excuse is better than no excuse. Or with Trump and Sarah. Any lie will do. Or cult followers will believe anything we say.
*Fingers crossed he's defeated by Miss Gabbard*
I know I really hope he is not re-elected. But for some reason the Dumpsters (that's what I call his Diehard Believers) just keep buying his Bullshit Lies.
Very few believe them. They want him to lie to "defeat" liberals, or do anything else. They don't care.
Please. Stop talking about Obama that way.
Dargil, It's my opinion and I can talk about anyone whatever way I want... Last I checked America still has Freedom of Speech!!! You see I'm one of the few that Hate Both Dump and Obama!!! Only I hate Dump more...
I can see you are upset. I would never want to suppress your freedom of speech. Disagreement, ridicule and sarcasm don't suppress free speech unless you let them. They ARE free speech.
Just hate the Orange guy in the Oval Office and no longer joke about Politics. In case you haven't noticed this Country is Divided (Worse than the Civil War) its Them vs Us either you're a Dumpster or not!!! The funniest part so many of his followers Hated him before they started feeding him Manuered filled Kool-Aid.
Here are some simple questions. Id the economy better off now or 3 years ago.Businesses returning and new ones forming.Military, same. The direction of controlling our borders.Lower taxes.Isis 98% eradicated.China moving in the direction of not stealing tech or dumping products. The smartest and best looking First Lady in history.Trump will win by a landslide in 2020.
Except that Donald Trump is clearly very reluctant to get pulled into this, which set him apart from Jeb Bush and the other Republicans running in 2016. But don't let actual facts get in the way of your Commiecrat indoctrination.
And why/how was this drone conveniently in the vicinity to detect the boat? Drones have missles ya know
@buttcrackjoe. It was a conical magnetic mine and the picture was taken at long distance.
The owner of the ship already contradicted the US report that it was a mine. From what the owner of the ship has said, it sounds like a torpedo launched from the air.
The owner is Japanese and depends on mideast oil. He will not say and do anything to interfere with than. AKA. I don't believe him.
Seems pretty fishy Iran would attack a oil tanker carrying their oil.
yeah i know though its possible its one of the many anti government factions which is why im reserving judgement for now
Owner of the tanker is supposedly contradicting the US report of the attack.
no shock there. i saw one American site showing fans of trump meeting in london to see him on his state visit that was actually the homecoming celebrations in liverpool for their winning football team.
Just one of the many reasons I don't watch MSM news.
John Bolton was appointed by Trump, don't act like he isn't part of this
Bolton wanted war with Iran long before Trump took office.
And Trump, who has repeatedly antagonized Iran chose him as rhe National security advisor, so what does thar say about Trump
@Waffles731 He supports war with Iran and is secretly pushing for it.
@Waffles731 It says he makes bad choices sometimes. We already knew that.
No, this isn't a bad choice, hiring a string of people connected to rhe Russian government is a bad choice, choosing to fuck over our allies in a way that helps Russia is a bad choice, creating hurtful trade wars is a bad choice, and antagonizing and hiring people who want war with Iran is a bad choice (I could go on) But as that saying goes, Once is happenstanceTwice is coincidenceThree times its enemy action
Bolton has wanted war with Iran for quite a while now, so it wouldn't surprise me if Bolton had ties to the attack.
