A president doesn't need to declare war. As commander-in-chief he is in control of the military and can send troops just like with what happened in Vietnam and the Korean war.
He can send the Marine Corps without approval for up to 30 days and I guarantee the plans have already been drawn and are being rehearsed should the order come as we speak.
@SMPlSl Right but the war powers resolution has been went around many times and it's debatable that that law is even constitutional. Congress just made it up.
First i should correct myself, it's 60 days and an additional 30 day 'withdrawl' period. Getting into the minutiae though It was a bill that was passed, vetoed, then passed by more than 2/3s vote in 1973. The intent is so the president cannot haphazardly wage war on a whim and start a vietnam 2.0. I happen to agree with that intent and believe it's a necessary law. However there is a distinct workaround that is if we or our possessions are attacked in any way. Technically President Trump had every right to start war when Iran shot down our drone, and again when they attacled our economy by destroying the Saudi oil facility. They've egged us on for the last month and we're doing all we can to avoid stomping on them like an elephant on an ant hill.
@SMPlSl I haven't been paying attention but I agree. Trump will absolutely want to avoid war, but if he feels it's necessary, I don't believe congress would be able to do much. He already has a lot of support in congress though and I think he'd have a lot of public support due to his aversion to want to avoid war except for in only the most extreme situations. Iran won't do anything though. This girl says Trump is all talk but consider that Iran lost a war with Israel which is 1/120 the population of the US. Iran is a joke. They can't do anything. That's why they want a nuke.
@SMPlSlAlso the Vietnam war was not a bad decision by the US. It's not any worse than helping the South Koreans against the North. People only think that due to ignorance combined with herd mentality. Leaving Vietnam was actually the fucked up part. The south virtually won the war until after we stopped giving them bullets. Then the north killed millions of south Vietnamese as they tried escaping on their boats. Then liberal Americans felt great at home though with their parades. They're a bunch of baboons.
Lol u think it matters whos pres? This war is inevitable
@smahala1991, thank you for the MHO.

The U. S. aided in the overthrow of the monarchy. Then the gov. we pushed for was overthrown by the ayatollah. Fuck it, let them figure it out. We should go green tech for power, and that whole region can fuck itself.
@the_mad_tinkerer are you sure? weren't we allied with the Shah during the cold war?, why would we want to overthrow one of our allies at the time,
@NatalieKeller95 Holy fuck, can't believe I fucked that up. Yeah, you got it. We reinstated the shah (monarchy) after iran elected a president. Then the ayatollah kicked the shah out. Shit. I guess if you don't use it you lose it. I'll have to start fact checking myself. Thnx, owe you one.
@the_mad_tinkerer yeah you're welcome :)
Release PlayStation 5?
All good ideas
That's one way of looking at it. Another way is that Trump needs a pointless war to distract voters from the economy.
True. Good point.
