P. S. Just as an aside, American liberals are livid at Pelosi's action. Note that today, Professor Noah Feldman, who testified on behalf of the Democrats in front of the House Judiciary Committee, wrote a piece saying that, in his view, until Pelosi transfers the articles of impeachment to the Senate, Mr. Trump has not been impeached in constitutional terms. That is the gentle legalesse way of saying that certainly liberal groups are VERY unhappy. For Republicans, it is called, "How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love Fake Impeachments."Cheers!
I need to get that last book... I worry too much...So, prof- what the hell happened to pelosi? As you said, I’ve always heard nothing but that she is the most excellent strategist, and all things Democrat’s worship in a leader, is she losing her touch? Maybe she was never that smart in the first place... 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️. Could this be the earliest part of the nuclear backfire that everyone’s been predicting?
“... Democrats bang their spoons on their high chairs...”... Another collectible metaphor... haha!
Thanks, as ever, for your kind compliment. As to Pelosi, it is going too far to say she is dumb. She is not and to assume so is to repeat the mistake that the likes of Hillary Clinton made about Mr. Trump. The latter of whom is not especially well educated and lacks self-discipline, but who knows how to market and who rewarded Mrs. Clinton's disdain with his presidency.Pelosi is a stupendous fundraiser and she is reasonably effective in enforcing party discipline. (See also that the overwhelming majority of those 30 plus vulnerable Democrats cast their votes for impeachment. No doubt sobbing as they put their voting cards in the slots.)However, it requires perspective. As I already noted, in the House the majority's power is all but absolute. How else to get away with violating House rules - as they did when the Democrats denied the Republicans a "minority day" hearing on impeachment? Appeal the ruling of the chair to your heart's content, the majority will simply vote away your objections. So Speaker Pelosi's alleged gift for vote counting is not all that impressive. In the Senate, by contrast, it is more like herding cats and by any objective standard McConnell is, by far, the more skilled leader and parliamentarian. In any case, to the best of my knowledge, no one has been predicting a "nuclear backlash." In terms of public opinion there has been a modest shift in the President's direction and given the very polarized mood in the country there is little reason to believe that will change.CONT.
That all said, even now it is not clear to me what Pelosi thinks she will accomplish. It is MOST likely she hopes to drive a wedge between the McConnell and the President. Indeed, in this she has already succeeded. The President, as ever preoccupied with his own vanity, wants a prolonged trial so that he may feel himself vindicated. Thus he has, by another of his dreary "tweets," has already aligned himself with the Speaker and demanded an immediate trial. Not that it matters. McConnell is apt to do what McConnell wants to do. The President will "tweet" to the cows come home and viewed through this prism it is likely that all Pelosi is doing is trying to leverage the minimal leverage she has.The Democrat's base wanted an impeachment, but never gave much thought to what would happen when that went to the Senate and thus left their control and handed it over to the Republicans. Not unlike how Senate Democrats gave no thought to what would happen after they abolished the filibuster for judicial appointments. It never seeming have crossed their minds that the day would come when the GOP regained the majority.Bottom line, beyond that I really have - and none of the colleagues that I work with for what it is worth - no idea what Pelosi thinks she will accomplish. She is simply playing a weak hand and is trying something hoping that something will turn up.So far all it has done is sewn confusion and annoyed her base. Though it did have the funny effect of putting Pelosi and Trump on the same page. This as McConnell yawns and 6 Senate Democrats shuffle their feet and look nervously at the floor as the clock ticks down to the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary election.
Great finish to an excellent narrative, thanks as always!
Thanks for the MHO.
I have made up my mind about the trial and I suspect you have two although you just won’t admit it but my point is neither of us is going to jail for that your statement is laughable it’s not even worth re-buddy
I've been watching testimony. And I will continue to watch Testimony. My mind has been made up on his being Unstable though!!!
Interesting that you made up your mind about the one thing you are least qualified to decide. And the testimony doesn’t go anywhere near that type of assessment, unless you are a professional in the mental health community. Your statement makes you seem even more partisan, bigtime. And back to my original point, neither of us is going to jail for having made up our minds, even though you claim you haven’t, that’s still laughable... 🤣😂😅
I am a Mental Healtb Professional... PhD with a Private Practice.
I see no evidence of that, other than your statement just now. I see lots of evidence that you are not even close to having a PhD in anything, based on your illogical and frankly, inept arguments. You said that Trump doesn’t have to follow judicial process laws, when in fact, so far, process laws, and the outright violati9n of them by the House committees have been clearly on display. The notion of fairness being eviscerated throughout this sham of an impeachment. It is NOT like any other impeachment as anyone who’s been paying attention can see. So I thank you for your opinion, and for at least saying what you think. Kudos to you for that.👍🏼
Doesn’t seem real. Real impeachments are passed to the senate for trial. This must be fake, what else is it then? Its not real, but it’s there, so wtf is it? It’s a sincere question?🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ Some gop are already talking about having the whole thing expunged from Trumps record, when they re-take the house and the senate in 2020... won’t that be a Tripp? 😅😂🤣😆

There you go again with the pizza analogies... 😂😅🤣. 👌🏻
Really? That’s all? Nothing about the fake impeachment? This question has nothing to do with the anchor passing along the message But everything to do with the message I guess you can’t comment but that’s 👌🏻
Btw- This anchor has some of the highest ratings in her time slot well above most everyone else
The impeachment is what it is. There is no expectation of it passing the senate and I agree that this is known and understood by the Democrats. They know what they're doing, or trying to do.
OK well at least you said something
But I’m not sure I agree with you about the Democrats knowing what they’re doing especially when you look at the polls which have changed very little except that Trump’s approval rating has spiked nine points that’s a lot that’s more than it has moved in over a year
Do you have an opinion about the fact that Pelosi has held up to the so-called impeachment and then went on a two-week break
So, after all the Dems have done to convince the American public that out potus has committed an impeachable offense, right after they were convinced he cheated with the Russians, right after they decided he was obviously a Russian agent, you are not only convinced none of that is true, but they have driven you to switch sides as a result?😳😳Well that’s not something I hear everyday, although I wouldn’t be surprised if many others have also been driven away from their party, but in a less noticeable way. Thanks for your honesty. #walkawaycampaign
