You're OVER age Zeus. You didn't do anything illegal. A parent can supply their child with a tobacco product or alcohol to teach them what that product is about and why to avoid overindulgence. An adult can also buy wine at a restaurant and give it to underage children with dinner. It's like taking someone underage to an R movie. Adult accompaniment makes it legal.
The adult is monitoring the situation.
In California it's only legal if it's in a public settingMy friend told me my parents will get arrested if cops find my porn and my parents knew I had it
Some people have an addiction. Should I give you a definition of that? Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you can take it away from other people.
uh... guess since it doesn't matter if it bothers people or children... guess when im older... I'll blow smoke in everyone's faces so they know how i feel about it! >< smoking=bad!!! uh... and just because i shared how i feel about it dont give you the right to be mean about it! ><
uh... just because i share how i feel about people who smoke around children or others that it bothers them dont give you the right to be mean! ><
Look, having grown up around people who smoke, I know how it feels to have to breathe in secondhand smoke and cough until my throat hurts. It sucks and its painful. However, I also know how much they need it. It's not just a eh thing, its they shake and can't focus until they have a cigarette. Did you know hitler basically won Czechoslovakia by sitting their president in a room and asking him not to smoke and then keeping him there until the president was willing to do anything to smoke again? It's less about people wanting to blow smoke in your face and more about peoples mental dependence on the drug. Believe it or not, very few people will even blow smoke on you anymore. New laws have been put in place and they can't even smoke in certain places. While I don't think smoking is healthy in any way, completely wanting to ban it because it makes you cough is immature and really selfish.
uh... im still sharing my opinion! can't stop me from wanting it banned! >< if i get lung cancer... im suing the smoker! hmp! ><
uh... if i get lung cancer... im sueing the smoker! ><
uh... if i dont reply right away... im watching fairy tail...
you are uh... blocked!
@Randomawkwardness if you could see how smoking had affected my mother. She has COPD. She can’t hardly breathe. She is on the highest level of oxygen you can be on. She smoked for 50 years.

If you desire to smoke, then obviously you're not smart enough. If you were smart enough, you would know that cigarettes are terrible and you wouldn't care what the age limit was.
I don't desire to smoke or drink. That's like taking away the right until you're 30, imagine all the people who would be upset. Usually, a nicotine addiction is started in childhood, when it's illegal to begin with. It's less of how smart someone is and more of how controlling the government wants to be.
Well, I we ever get universal healthcare, then cigarettes are probably going to be banned.
Hey, I mean, you get the right to own property and land and live on your own. But thats really the only big milestone anymore. And most people don't at 18 anyway.
Actually, I could do that now if I went to court and got myself adjudicated. And you're right, that stuff is pretty expensive.
Yeah, especially for foreign tourists. This isn't like alcohol where you can survive for a couple weeks without drinking. People who smoke have an addiction and have to smoke everyday. All this will do is cause these people to get cigarettes illegally, and pretty much every smoker started smoking at a young age, so this law will do nothing.
@ZeussLightningBolt Alcoholics are addicted to alcohol too. They can't exist without drinking, either.
@ZeussLightningBolt The difference is alcoholics become out of control when they abuse their product. Cigarette smokers hurt themselves more by their abuse.
Welllll, when they raised the alcohol age, alcohol related car crashes plummeted. There was cause and effect going on. People who are just starting drinking don't have as much self control over their drinking habits... There is peer pressure to smoke, just the same as the pressure with drinking.
I get your point.
Yeah, I'm a gas station worker in PA where it just turned to 21 on the 6th and over the span of three days before the law went into effect the same 18 year old girl came in and bought 3 cartons (30 packs) of cigarettes (The max we allow you to buy at one time). She definitely ended up spending well over 600 dollars on cigarettes over those three days. She was clearly stocking up on them before the law took effect, either to sell to others or to use them herself. But with your question, I think anyone between 18 and 21 who is a nicotine addict should automatically be given free medical treatment to help break them of the addiction. If we really care about helping to end the epidemic of young people dying from smoking it's the least we can do.
