How can they really do this when for 1. they don’t yet know how it spreads, and 2. people can be carriers and show no symptoms themselves...
@NorthShoreCalling they said they were working with the various health and other agencies. Maybe they have information I don't; I'm which case I hope they use it to keep Corona out of my country. China has already quarantined some of its worst affected provinces. I hope our government here will be just as proactive.
I hope so too but having worked in healthcare I do wonder how they’re managing it.
@NorthShoreCalling spread by air apparently but not sure how close you would need to be to a carrier to breathe their breath but thats why the chinese are all wearing masks right now and also why eventhough the masks are banned in hong kong they are wearing them too
@wankiam that is frightening to consider. I hear of cases in the US. I hope it never reaches my country.
you have more chance of being killed by a shark so dont have a sleepless night over it ;)
It’s more likely that it would have a significant impact on Pakistan than the USA. It will be there soon enough. Good luck holding land border in that part of the world. America at least has oceans as a defense. We can shut down flights quickly and delay cargo. Our biggest hurdle is the Mexican border. There are already suspected cases there and they aren’t as up to speed as us… I’m sure we’ll have some cases as well, but once India gets it, Pakistan is next...
Your governament is bullshitting you, its undetectable for the first period.
Yeah airborne viruses are the worst in relation to transmission and spread rapidly. Basically it’s highly likely everywhere will experience it in some form or another in around 12 months. They say they should have a vaccination for corona type viruses in around 1 year - we shall see. But yeah, public information won’t be released and when it is they do it gradually so you won’t hear the full extent.
Apparently this one infects 3 people from every 1 person.
With the way the corona virus is going it's probably best to get a certified air tight hazmat suit and oxygen tank and mask with full tank of air supply oxygen in order to avoid being infected by the virus i would do it if i could afford it
I think all any of us can really do at this point is look after your health and practice excellent hygiene and don’t touch anyone suspected to have it, and if possible if they haven’t already, get them isolated and to report their case by phone so that preparations can be made to treat and reduce further contamination.

That's a gross under-estimate, since said person was wandering around with the virus, trying to get cope without seeing a doctor, for at least four days after coming back to the USA via Seattle-Tacoma Airport, before being quarantined. And a second suspected person with the virus was quarantined yesterday, a student who was residing on the campus of Texas A&T University, just outside Houston...
@DevilsAdvocator I’ve been watching clips of the WHO officials and their conferences. They keep naming it Coronavirus, I mean it’s the scientific name for it. But in 2002-2003 there was a Coronavirus called SARS that had an outbreak. This new virus is not named yet but I think it’s a mutated strain of the SARS that killed about 800 people. They’ve confirmed that once you are infected you have about a 1 week dormant period where you won’t see any symptoms. This is why the temperature screenings at airports are useless unless an person who’s been infected for more than 1 week walks through the checkpoint. It’s confirmed that this strain is “fast mutating”. I watched a Singapore news channel saying that the people who died from it already, did not experience any fever. They just dropped dead like flies.
By a remarkable coincidence, the place where this particular outbreak of coronavirus, 2019-nCoV, officially originated from- a seafood market in Wuhan, which purportedly "conducted illegal transactions of wild animals"- just so happens to be literally just across the road from a Level 4 Biolab, where they've been conducting research into the deadliest coronaviruses found in bats for at least the past two years, which went dark and stopping publishing its work over a year ago.English.whiov.cas.cn/.../t20171212_187592.htmlAnd the sequences of 2019-nCoV shows the greatest similarities to betacoronaviruses found in bats; and while scientists from Peking University, Guangxi Traditional Chinese Medical University, Ningbo University and Wuhan Biology Engineering College published an article on Wednesday, which concluded that snakes were the most likely wildlife reservoir for the 2019-nCoV which then transmitted it to humans, only the Chinese scientists have come to this conclusion. With most other scientists arguing that the evidence clearly shows that the reservoir must have been bats, not snakes; and increasing numbers of phylogenetic analysts suggesting that the 2019-nCoV developed as a result of "viruses from bats and snakes combining". Which just so happened to be what that Level 4 Biolab (the highest biohazard warning level there is, typically reserved only for bioweapons research facilities) was looking into doing, at the time when they went dark...
@DevilsAdvocator Confirmed case in Chicago. https://youtu.be/ibodiqTV1po
This isn't the same situation, ebola was not in highly connected area's and eventually mutated to a harmless virus that vaccinated everyone. This is more like the Spanish flu and has already breached quarentine completely. The cases you are seeing are 2 weeks behind the spread given this virus goes under the radar in the early stages.
@sawno wheres your comment on sars or swine flu? they were very similar. you panic if you like but as stated i have seen it all before
Those had lesser spread so where more easily quarantined. People act as if the confirmed cases are the spread while the real spread is much broader. I don't think this is gonna end up killing half the planet or something but a pandemic is very likely.
@sawno i would bet that in a couple of months time American news will be full of highschool shootings again and uk news will be a spate of dangerous dog attacks again... it goes round and round and round but if you want to check back in late march to quote me on this please feel free
It's probably with the best possible way to stay protected is by wearing hazmat suits and air supply oxygen tank and mask in order to avoid being infected with the corona virus.
That will definitely be way to stay protected during the outbreak
As long as you have a constant supply of air in the tank will always be protected and prepared
Especially with an air tight hazmat suit and oxygen tank and mask and air supply oxygen in the tank
Well its looks like the fatality rate is going to be higher than I hoped… 41 deaths to 36 recoveries (53.2% so far)… Crazy...
A lethal cold with a mortality rate of at least 5%, potentially as high as 14% based on the latest reports (with roughly a quarter of cases 'severe', i. e. life-threatening, and roughly 55% of these severe cases thus far to have 'gone the distance' having ended in death instead of recovery). I'd say that's pretty scary...
