“The vote in the Bundestag (parliament) on Thursday makes defiling foreign flags equal to the crime of defiling the German flag.”
That law has never been enforced as far as I know.
So burning the EU flag AND the German flag are both illegal (which makes your entire question invalid by the way) under the same law, which is not enforced. What’s your point then?
Thoughts about something not true?
Mate, the German flag has been burned so many times at protests and nobody has been arrested for it.
That simply does not matter
Thanks for sharing your thoughts even though its full of prejudice.
It’s not. You claim burning the German flag is legal, which it is not. It falls under exactly the same law as now the European flag. The idea that now burning the German flag is legal and the European flag illegal on the basis that in the past they did not enforce that law is just very stupid
Semantics, its if its not enforced it might as well be legal.
Stop being so pedantic.
You're literally claiming things that are absolutely nonsense and drawing conclusions about legality of things based on exactly nothing. Here's the facts:- burning the German flag is as illegal as burning the European flag in Germany- they fall under the same law, so the same punishment likely applies- if the law is ignored now, you can reasonably assume that it will be the same in general, irrespective of which flagYour question is nonsense and what your said is twaddle as well
No its not. Knowing the Germans, they will not punish people burning the German flag but punish people burning others flags.
Your feelings have no bearing on the legality of the act nor the propensity to prosecute people for burning EU flag relative to burning German flag
German masochism is an observable fact that is totally unrelated to my own feelings. When it comes to political action, the government may choose a toleration policy. Sometimes when protests are illegal, the government lets them happen anyway, same with illegal actions.Germany has never persecuted anyone for burning the German flag, therefore there is a toleration policy on it. In other words its legal because the law is not being enforced when it comes to the German flag itself.

I'm from Germany and I didn't hear about this
Oh. InterestingWell. Maybe it's just not the stuff you look into usually. 👀
Yeah maybe. But the website doesn't look that serious so I don't know
It's the BBC though 😬
That's the British Broadcasting Company. How dare you!
Due to EU regulations, it’s actually very fire-retardant
