Donald Trump has been impeached for a second time. How do you feel about this?

- The impeachment of Mr. Trump - and I say this as no fan of the President and as a Republican who did not vote for him - is not really a matter of great moment. Transparently political, it is but one more step in the process of making impeachment just another toy in the toybox and otherwise its' impact is likely to be transitory at most.
This was an impeachment that went through no investigative committee and subcommittee hearings, that had no mark-ups, the articles were drafted in less than a day and then brought to the House floor and passed in two hours. Such was the gravity of the moment that it passed in record time will minimal investigation or deliberations.
The Speaker argued that such haste was required because the President posed an immediate threat to the republic. Yet the trial may be delayed for up to 100 days - well past President Trump's departure from office - lest it interrupt the proceedings of the Senate to confirm the new President's Cabinet and sub-Cabinet officers. (It should be noted that Senate rules during an impeachment require that all Senators be present at their desks on the Senate floor. Thus all other work - also including work on COVID pandemic relief - must stop.)
Thus when Mr. Biden was asked about whether there should be an impeachment of the incumbent President - threat to the republic that he represents - the President-elect basically looked down at his feet and mumbled that he hoped (!) that the Senate could do both an impeachment and move his 100 day agenda forward. Thus also giving the nation a glimpse into the supine nature of the Presidency to come.
Add to this the somewhat dubious nature of the charge. The Article of impeachment makes vague reference to incitement to insurrection. Make no mistake, Mr. Trump was and remains the buffoonish oaf that he has been for four years. He frittered away his chance to build an enduring political coalition in the tradition of Franklin Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan, because unlike those political icons, he was content to pour salt in the social wounds.
The speech that Mr. Trump gave on January 6 was in that tradition. Hardly new and hardly surprising. Yet were the President an average citizen in a regular court of law, the First Amendment would likely protect him. Moreover, again as there was no investigation before the article of impeachment was drafted, the evidence that is now coming to light that the attack was pre-planned (and thus logically the President's speech did NOT provoke it) is being discounted.
This also to add that Washington never panics - except in a crisis. The Capitol has seen violence before - including in 1954 when gunmen entered the House chamber and sprayed it with bullets, wounding 6 Members - and all this would have been avoided, or at least not become the drama that it has, had Capitol police been deployed as they normally are when the city experiences large mass events.
So now the impeachment trial will make its lethargic way - the protestations of crisis that inspired it notwithstanding - to the Senate floor. In political terms it will perpetuate the divisions that afflict the nation. In practical terms it will be rendered moot, and arguably (and ironically) unconstitutional by virtue of the fact that the impeached will no longer be in office. (The Constitution, it should be noted, stipulates impeachment of Presidents only, not former Presidents or other citizens.)
Thus, as history repeats itself first as tragedy the second time as farce, so now will impeachment. Mr. Trump's second impeachment likely to end as little more than a footnote and an historical oddity. All this to satisfy the passions of the hour.
The Italian political philosopher coined the word onogracracy. The term meaning "government by wild asses." It is a term that aptly describes America in the first quarter of the 21st century.0|10|0Is this still revelant?

- On a human level, I feel bad for him. The way they covered this man was absolutely misleading and horrible. I don’t agree with everything he’s done, but there’s a strong distaste I have for people who demonstrate so much hatred. They chewed him up and spit him out, and they managed to brainwashed the world to hate him. I feel bad for his wife as well. She started a cyber bullying campaign just because she saw how her husband was treated.
The charge is bogus. He said to peacefully protest, yet his opponents can actively incite violence and then bail out the rioters.
Despite that, I don’t think I’ll ever trust the Democratic Party ever again. This doesn’t have to do with Trump individually. I can’t support a party that acts this hypocritical and vile towards other human beings. These people have turned Americans against each other by race. They’ve tarnished the reputation of all law enforcement officers across the country. They’ve destroyed American relationships. They are some of the most talented manipulators I’ve ever seen. This isn’t to say Democrats in general are bad, but their politicians are just down-right evil1|30|0Is this still revelant?Yup. And that's why I am 100% for violent riots against them. NOT against American people; just specifically Congress, Soros, and all the other shadowy assholes controlling the media and big tech. I would 100% contribute to a literal witch hunt and burning at the stake against these people. They really are that bad.

- I feel that the impeachment is justified, but my only issue with it is the timing. In my opinion, Donald Trump should have been impeached long ago solely based on how he handled the Charlottesville, Virginia incident in 2017. Donald Trump is well aware of the fact that his supporters are a bunch of mindless sheep that would obey his every order. When Trump made his speech telling his supporters to go to the Capitol, he didn't tell his supporters to protest at the Capitol peacefully as clearly and often as he should have. Instead, he more often used dog whistling rhetoric and violent speech that told his supporters to "fight like hell," "be strong," and "you won't have a country anymore." His lawyer Rudy Ghouliani even mentioned "trial by combat," which isn't peaceful by any means. He also didn't make any tweet or public announcement telling his supports not to take Rudy's "combat" words literally. This resulted in Donald Trump's supporters taking Trump's words literally, which led to them breaking in and rioting in the Capitol, killing law enforcement officers. Because of this, Donald Trump should definitely be held accountable for his actions not just on a political scale, but also a criminal scale for inciting violence.3|11|2Is this still revelant?
"In my opinion, Donald Trump should have been impeached long ago"
lol. He was! This was impeachment #2.@supercutebutt: Yes, I know, but his first impeachment was December 18, 2019. What I meant was he should have been impeached and removed from office based on how he handled the Unite the Right Rally in August, 2017. By saying that "very fine people" existed on "both sides" and refusing to directly condemn the white supremacists, neo-Nazis, neo-Confederates, skinheads, and Ku Klux Klan members that engaged in racist protest, riots, overall violence, and even murder, Donald Trump basically exposed himself as a racist right then and there. One of the grounds of impeachment are a violation of public trust. Racism expressed by an elected official is an example of a violation of public trust.
- Show All Show Less
you have no standards for what is impeachable other than negative emotions it seems. he did the right thing in charlottesville. but you're probably uninformed and you think he said something he never said
@007kingifrit: It's not emotion, but rather facts a simple Google search can prove. When given the chance to clarify his comments in an interview where he was directly informed that the white supremacist groups started the violence, Donald Trump cut off the reporter and restated that "very fine people" existed on "both sides," meaning that he claimed "very fine" white supremacists were present at the riots. When given the chance to publicly condemn the groups, he refused, instead stating that he didn't condone any violence. However, in later years, he was quick to condemn Black Lives Matter supporters and "Antifa" for their actions as "terrorists." In other words, Trump basically exposed himself as a white supremacist sympathizer, which can definitely be considered a violation of public trust because an elected official, especially the President of the 'United' States, sympathizes with white violent supremacist groups that issues with Americans that aren't white. Under normal circumstances, a person would be forced to resign from their position.
- 1000% support it, but his loonies have threatened more attacks and I don't think that's going to end immediately.
He is not above the laws or the constitution, and the impact of his actions needs to be recognized and accounted for.
It's beyond concerning that so many of his followers still defend him. This, among other things, should show us all that this isn't over. We are still deeply divided, we have seemingly huge differences of understanding constitutionality, democracy, and law, and white supremacist militia groups and religious nuts are more organized than ever on the right and I doubt their intensity and willingness to attack the government (or people in general) are going to wane over night. We are at an interesting time in our society.8|62|7Is this still revelant?wow you're brainwashed, trump has done nothing wrong. we have very strict rules for what counts as inciting violence in this country and you don't know what they are
@Red_Arrow says the literal lowkey communist
no i'm the most informed on the rules here, incitement of violence has very strict definitions and you don't know them- Show All Show Less
@007kingifrit I certainly know what incitement is and he did it. Maybe you are having trouble believing the results were violent.
@007kingifrit
This question was about impeachment. He has already been impeached, he just hasn't be convicted/removed. Even if he isn't convicted, because of the Republican idiocy, he still should be impeached as a statement of recognition that many of us see him as unfit to hold office and his actions should be addressed. Whether or not they are is another question.@Red_Arrow Poor thing thinks that pretending he's more educated on this issue, or simply stating that, is going to intimidate someone here. lmao

2681- It's sad that it's come to this, but Trump is like a bull in a china shop, and things are gonna break. Trump stirs people up, lies, pays off people, bullys, but takes no responsibility for any of it, and he's never been held accountable for anything in his life, until now. He stirred up that crowd, told them to be strong, take the Capitol building, told them he'd march with them (when he really just sat in the White House and watched it on TV), and they trashed the Capitol Building. He took an oath to protect America from foreign and domestic enemies, and he made NO attempt to notify any security to stop this. It's just pure sedition, an impeachable offense.
What's even more disturbing is 197 Republicans in the House voted 'no' on the impeachment. I know there are a few ding-dongs in the House like Gaetz and Gohmert who will follow Trump into Hell, but the rest of them? They're cowards, and they're afraid of Trump's vengeance and his base for next election time. Mitch McConnell will stall the impeachment in the Senate until after Jan 20th to provide cover for himself and his fellow Republicans in the Senate, thinking that when the Democrats take the Senate, they can do the dirty work. Class act, Mitch. He moved like lightning when it came to getting Amy Coney Barrett confirmed in the Senate.
Trump always brags about having the biggest crowds, more accomplishments than any president in history, biggest what ever. Now, he can claim the record for more impeachments than any president in history. Sad little man.0|12|0 - This is all so that he never runs again, and more so, to send a message to anyone hoping to go against the corrupt status quo. It's more symbolic than anything else. Which now gives more credence that ANTIFA moles really stormed the building on January 6th.
This isn't surprising though; the Democrats are MASSIVELY corrupt pieces of shit and all of them deserve to be hanged, and this isn't even taking their dealings with China into account.
What's surprising is how UTTERLY FUCKING RETARDED so many Americans are towards this massive show of corrupt, and the massive massive hypocrisy RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR FUCKING FACES. This shit has surpassed Clownworld or anything fictional you could make up. Again; the pieces of shit in Congress are only so corrupt and slimy because so many Americans are beyond fucking retarded about the massive corruption and double standards.
I just want fucking Civil War II to hurry up, already. Better to fight for freedom than live under the rule of tyranny. Just ask the citizens of China, and now, Hong Kong.https://www.youtube.com/embed/7yYplnEkbqUI mean, look at this fucking shit in the video and tell me how a human being isn't literally retarded if they still side with Biden, Pelosi, and the DNC after this shit. These politicians all should be hanged.0|12|0 - As a Democrat I think it is kind of dumb. Maxine Waters and other Democrats incited the rioting of Black Lives Matter. Congresswoman Waters said, "Get in their faces!" and talked about going to their homes and other public places and harrassing people. Next thing you know people are burning down cities.
Democrats also haven't done a lot to condemn violence. You have protestors shooting a guy with a MAGA hat in the street and leaders are in denial about it.
There is an important constitutional question here that is basic for impeachment. Did Trump incite insurrection? Did he incite a riot?
The answer is no he did not. His speech prior to the Capitol situation was talking about "peaceful" demonstration and going to capitol hill to "cheer on our legislators".
Are Trump supporters radicalized? Yes. Are they violent? Yes.
But if we blamed President Obama for cities burning under his Presidency by impeaching him it wouldn't be fair. And it is not fair to blame Trump for his supporters for the same thing. And even if you agree with blaming Trump. There is simply not enough evidence to impeach him. Impeachment should not be political.1|11|1 - This is just a giant charade to remove any chance of him running again in 2024 and to make Pelosi and the democrats look good. Also you need to prove criminal intent for this.
The vast majority of you jumping for joy over this did NOT listen to his ENTIRE rally speech before the Capitol Hill incident. You just listened to chopped up media bites or didn’t listen to it all.
Yes he did tell his followers to march with him to the Capitol and yes he did say “the election was stolen from him” which was extremely stupid. But he also explicitly told his followers to protest PEACEFULLY. At no point did he tell them to engage in violence or riot.
He’s responsible for raising the temperature but say he is directly criminally responsible for violence is hearsay. Both Bernie Sanders and Obama said rhetoric that lead to violence (congressional baseball game shooting and the Dallas police killer). But no one held them criminally liable for that bullshit nor should they. They didn’t tell their fans to go out and kill people and Trump didn’t tell people to riot.
Of course that’s what you don’t want to hear. But feelings won’t get Trump impeached a second time. It’s just a waste of time and taxpayer money and time to go through all this bs again.
Trump is done. He’s leaving Jan 21st and no serious republican is going to back him for a 2024 presidential run.2|10|1 - At this point, it is being done both out of spite and to try and make sure he can never have influence in politics again.
(1.) They impeached him this time around not only when he was about to leave office but for baseless reasons. They say he "incited violence and sedition" which led to the Capitol raid. Really? What tangible evidence says so? I can't find any tweets or recordings where he asked his followers to be violent and storm the Capitol.
(2.) Senate trial for what? As soon as January 20th takes place and Biden is sworn in, Trump becomes a civilian again. They can have their trial but no legal consequences may arise from it since he will no longer be president.
(3.) Congress seems to have forgotten how much most of the country disdains them, which in my opinion contributed to the riots. At least 75 million people witnessed what was basically an unpersoning on social media and scapegoat impeachment of the president. They will not forget that and also will not forget how this took precedent over the tens of millions of Americans about to be homeless and millions more out of work.
(4.) They're afraid. The politicians in Congress just had their illusion of safety and invincibility shattered and that is why they are so mad. They want Trump impeached and taken off media because they strongly believe his influence out of office will continue and he could even run, at least for VP, in 2024.
This country is about to have a major economic and housing market collapse and we are worried over a bunch of fat boomers who walked around the Capitol for a couple of hours.0|22|2And two morons downvoted you for a rational reasonable response. They really have brainwashed so many Americans. The future blood from Civil War is on their hands.
- Donald Trump, held a rally the day before the riots last Wednesday and he told his supporters to go after them and what happened was horrible, now President-Elect Biden will have to make a decision to go on with the Impeachment hearing or refuse it but Trump ignited the fire of this whole situation, there was a lot of Republican's was behind this Impeachment so now it goes to a hearing?3|10|1
- Well, first off, it's only been 232 years. You don't impeach generals, after all. But that's not really important. The important thing here is the Democrats have decided to treat the self-inflicted gunshot wound in their feet by shooting themselves in the foot with an RPG. The typical American citizen actually realizes that Donald Trump, while a narcissistic assholic blowhard, is not the Antichrist. He's going to be out of office in seven days, but they can't resist taking one last shot at him, which will accomplish essentially nothing, save showing the world just how insanely petty they are.
Either they genuinely don't realize just how bad this makes them look, or they do, and simply don't care. Unless they're actively trying to destroy the faith of the people in the American government, this doesn't make any sense.1|11|2polls indicate a substantial majority favoring impeachment. But by all means enjoy your delusion if it keeps you from a complete breakdown there snowflake!
@dmgstarfleet Ah, yes, because polls are NEVER biased in selection, or have answers affected by a lack of anonymity. Human failings? Nah, they're just a myth. Grow up.
you assholes tried a coup-and you doubt the nation turned against you? Even Republicans voted for impeachment. Even Moscow Mitch wants Trump to be convicted in the impeachment trial. It all fell apart for you didn't it? Just like in Berlin in 1945
- Show All Show Less
@dmgstarfleet Excuse me? I never had anything to do with any coup, attempted or otherwise. And my side WON in Berlin in 1945. Nor can that be called a coup; Hitler declared war on US. I am also quite surprised you call the least fascist US president in my lifetime an equivalent to Hitler (fascist is quite a bit more than the conflation of "right wing" and "asshole").
But you needn't listen to reason; look to your own experience. Make a note and come back to this in a year, or two, or five. You'll see. You may not admit, but you'll see.
- Pretty dumb.
To be honest, I forgot why they did it the first time... was it Russia. That turned out to be a 100% hoax.
Now he has a few weeks as president. They want to blame him for a riot?
Well, unless you have him calling for a riot then you cannot blame him for the actions of a few. That is the why society works now. You can always blame someone else for people's free will actions. They have been blaming him for the Covid Virus too.
It is obvious it is 100% politics.
I will tell you the truth. If a meteor hit the capital building and all 600 plus of them got wiped out and we had to start from scratch and replace every single politician... it would probably be a good thing. They are all liars and hacks and corrupt and bought and paid for by their interest groups.0|11|0The "thing with Rusher" (Trump's words) was not a hoax, it was in fact very real. They just didn't have enough evidence to directly link Trump to Russia's involvement. As for the insurrection, the problem is Trump encouraged the protest, but when it got out of hand, he said nothing until hours later. Did he not say "I'll be there with you"? - or did he just mean in spirit? Either way, it was built up to be more, and from what people are finding out, has become more evident of an inside-job. Trump sat back to watch the mayhem, much like how he used to love watching this sort of thing on his show The Apprentice. His deliberate neglect to say something was a huge message in and of itself.

- There was nothing in Trump's speech that incited violence or insurrection. This second impeachment clown show is based on this sentence. "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard." But for reasons not Trumps fault, it got out of hand. Instead of watching MSNBCNNPR, read the transcript for yourself.
https://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2021-01-13/transcript-of-trumps-speech-at-rally-before-us-capitol-riot0|11|1 - You can NOT impeach a person who is not holding an elected office. Mr. Trump will be long gone before the wheels of impeachment begin to turn. It is a strictly political stunt with no meaning or validity, being orchestrated by the most venal politician drawing breath, Nazi Pelosi. The Nation will be much better off when this old vicious hag finally croaks as she is the catalyst for every laughable, hysterical, and mendacious POS legislation spawned on Capitol Hill. Once she is gone, politics will ease back to being a reasonable civil activity. She is so filled with hate, jealousy, and envy that she can not think coherently.2|00|0
- I think he invited the impeachment to himself. According to this Fox News poll, more than half of the surveyed participants think Trump is responsible for the Capitol Hill riot. Sadly, he is leaving office with the lowest approval rating (29%). https://www.foxnews.com/us/trump-approval-rating-drops-low-capitol-riot0|00|0
- as he should be. he needs to be removed. he should've never been president in the first place8|102|8
So people should not have had the right to vote in the first place? Yeah, that sums up the Democrat position. It also explains the last 4 years of lies and propaganda against the President...
@joesheks everyone has the right to vote, i'm just saying he's not qualified to be president, so someone else should've ran in his place.
there are no qualifacations to be president. only values matter, not experience. no experience can help you become president

- Donald Trump being impeached twice says more about the wrong doing of Congress than the wrong doing of President Trump. Also you are misleading in saying if President Trump is found guilty he will not be able to run for office, he can be found guilty and still be able to run, the Senate would have to separately vote on whether he an be disqualified from running.
But constitutionally a private citizen can not be tried by the Senate, senate loses it authority when Donald Trump is no longer President.2|11|0 - Why are we wasting millions on this at all? Is political division this important? Larger question... is pissing off his devotees that important to these politicians that they are willing to risk someone being hurt or killed because they choose to continue their rhetoric upon his leaving of office? Impeach him all they want. This will not silence him. If anything, it will serve to further fan the flames.
Anymore it is a toss up which party is more ridiculous and stupid. - As yet Trump has not been Impeached only the papers for the impeachment have been signed no trial has yet taken place, the defendant does not risk forfeiture of life, liberty, or property. According to the Constitution, the only penalties allowed to be imposed by the Senate are removal from office and disqualification from holding any federal office in the future. It is that last one 'disqualification from holding any federal office in the future' that the Democrats are going for as it would prevent Trump running for the next Election. but I think they'll have a problem getting of two-thirds of the Senate to vote For the motion.0|00|1
Not exactly. He has been impeached. That occurred when the house voted. He has not been convicted. That occurs in the senate. If he is convicted in the senate, he loses all rights of former presidents. That means he will not have secret service protection, and he will not receive the $200 000 per year pension. It does not prevent him from running for office again. The senate would have to call for and have a second vote specifically to prevent his ever running again for that to occur.
- It'd be nice if these corrupt Congresscritters actually did something to benefit ordinary people for once, not just stuff their they and their paymasters care about, like, for example doing something about the cost of health care or the high unemployment rate.1|30|1
- Why we still talkin bout this dude 😂 can't he just accept fate and move tf on. All this political shit just need to die PERIOD9|53|1
- Lol he was the first president to be impeached twice. Sad5|73|4
- he was not impeached. he had one impeachment trial that didn't lead to impeachment. and he has one ongoing trial now. the issue in American language is, that "impeachment" (the act of allegation and trial) and impeachment (removal from office upon being found guilty of the allegacions) seems to be the same.1|20|0
@joesheks ok i got that. thanks for clearing that up :) i always appreciate it, when people are able to respectfully and rationally argue with facts instead of going for an autistic "anti trumpist" rage.
it's a second language for me and when i see the media around it, they all mention the "impeachment" as if that means trump did something wrong. i mean as long as he's not convicted, impeachment does "not" mean he did something wrong. right?
i'm not a trump fan by the way. i just wanna understand the concept, cause what you see in the media seems to have little to do with truth these days.@joesheks when i translate the word "impeachment" into german, it litterally gets translated into both words. the word for "trial" and the one for "removal from office" in german.
- Show All Show Less
" i mean as long as he's not convicted, impeachment does "not" mean he did something wrong. right?"
No.
Impeachment means a majority in the House definitely think he did something wrong. It's often not an overwhelming majority, because of partisan politics.
Actual conviction happens in the Senate and requires a large majority to remove him from office and strip him of post-presidential privileges, one of the key parts being that he may not be able to hold political office again. The trial will happen after his term, so he won't be removed, but they can decide to convict him for his wrongdoing and strip him of his post-presidential privileges.
It's helpful to think of it as charging for a crime vs being convicted. You may allege charges against someone for wrong doing and then the court/jurors will decide based on arguments and evidence in a trial to convict that person. That's how the process goes.@thegirlwonder well the house "thinking" he did something wrong and "him having done something wrong" are 2 different stories. i got the comparison between being charged and convicted. and being charged definitely does NOT mean you did anything wrong. it can but if it always did, conviction would be pointless.
This video can help you understand impeachment
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSszixvo7d8
This video is also helpful to understand more of this situation/process - from the 9:10 minute mark to 16:15 minutes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=la2gdmbIbnY@thegirlwonder also i think it's good, that it's a difficult process that needs a lot to happen. or else we'd change presidents like we change our underwear.
As touched on in the video, this is only one kind of charge against Trump. He has a ton of lawsuits coming his way and losing the office of president and its immunity against civil charges. One of his main reasons for pushing so hard to avoid losing the election, I think.
@thegirlwonder well leftist media wants to see him dead. i think that's the only thing. once he's off the presicency, he'll go back to obscurity. back to being a regular criminal. he'll do fine, i guess.
I'm not sure what your point is though. People do wrong things without being convicted all the time lol
Not being convicted does NOT mean that someone did NOT do something wrong. It means he wasn't convicted. This is largely down to politics as well, so if there's a substantial number of people who won't challenge his wrongdoing, then he won't be convicted. I'm just correcting the assertion that he didn't do anything wrong. It's quite obvious to many of us that he did. But that's beside the point of explaining how impeachment and conviction in the senate work, which was why I replied to your question. Have a good day!thanks for the video by the way. i now think imeachment should actually be a democratic thing. the people should actually vote for the impeachment, like they voted to get him into office to begin with xD
It's not just the media, a lot of us hate him. Dead is extreme, but he needs to be held accountable. And no, I don't think he will go into obscurity. Have you paid any attention to this man? lolol Fat chance on him going silently away. He has an audience and a huge ego. His influence has riled up and emboldened many and changed politics for the foreseeable future. I don't think he or his influence are going away.
That's not how the constitution set the process up, so that's not how the process works. Glad this was helpful!
not being conviceted does mean you're not found guilty. there's convicts that did nothing and acquitted people that did something. that's neither here nor there.
i'm just saying that he's a criminal eel. considering his past career, i think there's not much that man can't get away with.
Definitely, but it works the other way around as well (you did plenty wrong and just were not convicted for a specific charge), which was my point.
Republicans should agree with this actually, as they made up election fraud to the public to convince them that wrongdoing happened on a national scale and then told the courts a completely different story. They alleged wrongdoing, but had zero credible evidence for it and didn't even argue fraud for many of their cases in court. Were they "wrong" for telling the people one story and getting millions angry over the idea that there's all this evidence, while acknowledging there was no evidence behind the scenes and telling the courts another story? If they aren't convicted but lied to millions that their vote/the election was stolen, which helped embolden violence and attacks toward the capitol, was it wrong or right? "Wrongdoing" is not always convicted in any court, but I'm sure you understand that.
This will be interesting to watch, that's for sure! I'm just glad we don't have him or a Republican majority in the Senate for another 4 years. Such relief! However, I don't think this is over at all longterm.@thegirlwonder i don't know if that was all made up or not. i don't trust any politician or media outlet these days... too much fake news.
Yeah, that's true about his past. Now he's trying to withhold payments for Rudy's legal services, which I think is hilarious af.
Media doesn't magically poof things into thin air. The media record government officials and experts, show video and audio of things happening, and it would take a huge conspiracy for all media to be on the same page lying all at once. The "fake news" concept needs to be challenged with critical thinking and basic logic skills. Courts record audio of Trumps lawyers saying the cases weren't fraudulent, and there's video of Trump's rallies and his tweets are everywhere. Transcripts of court cases are accessible, as well as audio. Legal experts explain what's happening in court cases as well and the types of cases being brought to court. Again, I don't know where you are from but here there is no huge wall that keeps ALL things secret and behind closed doors. The media is a huge asset to sharing that information and helping us understand things better, so if you don't believe pretty obvious evidence from credible sources, then you probably don't care to understand or learn much about what is happening in the world around you. Thats the main reason Trump got elected - he successfully convinced his followers that everyone who doesn't match his narrative or agree with him is lying. That's incredibly dangerous. Without a free press, any amount of democracy is almost impossible to secure.
@thegirlwonder yes media does exactly that. they make up fake sensational stories. clickbait > truth these days. i do think there's probably some truth to the voter fraud thing. i think corruption runs in all parts of the political system. that is not to say that i would have wanted trump for another term. i just think Biden is gonna be even worse than trump.
I'm not talking about clickbait. I'm talking about actually reading and listening to reporting, which usually involves some degree of evidence. To each their own, I just don't think those who automatically think everything is "fake news" are the most rational people. That makes it easy to disregard all evidence of anything in reality - it's all fake news. Therefore, any kind of ridiculous opinions are possible. It's a logic / democracy /reality issue for me.
Media can be biased and can lie, but it doesn't make everything a lie and you need credible news sources for any kind of democracy and modern society.
@thegirlwonder i do not automatically think "everything is fake news". but i by default distrust every news media, which i think is appropriate. i wasn't always like that. actually it's just the things that stirred up last year that caused me to be like that.
The word impeachment basically means accusation. The House of Representatives, when it impeaches the president, is accusing him of specific crimes.
@JamesRandiDebates yes thanks, that was already explained to me but i still appreciate you being respectful about it. my missunderstanding comes from the fact that "impeachment" basically translates into the german word for "the accusation of the president" AND the word for the actual removal from office. it's confusing.
- Ambivalent. It's not my country and have no real opinions on this one. But if he pleaded insanity it'd be quite a compelling case.5|13|3
Actually, (and I'm a mental health professional) that might well have worked for him, and I think he may try to use it in future criminal trials. I would love to work on that case if he did.
- I am not racist I think all lives matter okay. I think rioting is bad that and it is not protesting. But some people are able to riot and that is acceptable, but when people riot cause of politics is unacceptable is so stupid. Rioting is bad but don't say it is acceptable for some people but it isn't for others because that is retarded. What Trump did was bad but he shouldn't be impeached again if we have other riots in the country that are acceptable. But that is just my thoughts.0|00|0
- Thank God but boy did it sure as hell take them long enough. You gave the orange man 4 years and one week left to finally understand he wasn't fit for presidency? What a joke. And Bitch McCuckle can kiss everyone's ass he decided to screw over with his flip flop lookin roasted turtle self.0|00|2
By what metric are you using to say he has been a good president?
No, I'm not looking to debate or belittle you (or anything of that nature), just asking why you, personally, believe he is a good president.@letssee89 scroll up i posted some 20+ sources on why he was a good president and his policy achievements
- It will also take away his secret service. An president impeached twice doesn't get that privilege. It's really sad how corrupt the dems are.1|115|5
That’s not true at all. Even if the Senate convicted him, he will still receive Secret Service protection the same as any other ex-President.
- Show All Show Less
@Lunatic1 There’s absolutely nothing to state that an impeached and convicted President will lose their Secret Service detail. The Former Presidents Act authorizes Secret Service protection upon request for all “former Presidents”, and makes no mention of removal from office changing any of this. (https://www. factcheck. org/2021/01/viral-tweet-distorts-facts-on-consequences-of-impeachment/)
- That was the Left being extra for no reason like a couple more days for them to take over America and make it a socialist nation and they can't even wait.4|54|3
In all fairness their intent is to prevent him from running again, not just them being eager to see Trump leave office.
@crmoore in all fairness they would just steal the election a second time so I believe they were making an example of him
- Show All Show Less
- I think Biden was against the second impeachment. But Pelosi was the driving force behind it. I think it also proves who's going to call the shots for the next 4 years.
Sorry Joe, Pelosi has just declared war on the Republican party. If you can't keep your dogs in line. We won't either.
And just so we're clear this ISN'T a call for violence!1|00|1 - The first time, it was a big show with not much to show for it after... The second time, I'd be curious to see how it goes...0|00|0
- As a woman, I can sleep better at night. I haven’t felt safe in this country for 4 years because if someone with all of these sexual assault accusations can become president, what does that say about my rapist?
Just some food for thought2|11|1only a bad person takes unfounded accusations seriously
also; you haven't felt safe? get real that's stupid
- I think it's sad that the president needs to go out this way. This is just the corporate Left being spiteful. They want to crush the anti-establishment types, and they mistakenly believe that this will be the way to do it. They're just enraging people. It's a recipe for disaster.0|01|0
- its a pointless sham. he broke no laws and not a single democrat can give me a direct quote that he said which constitutes inciting violence
they will try to link sources saying he did it. they will claim he did it, but not quote him which is the only acceptable way to do it0|10|1 - From what I understand the American law basically allows the house majority to spam this impeachment stuff on the regular basis.
So it doesn't mean much, aside from him being disliked a lot my the Dems.0|00|0 - Why did they try for a second time and why didn’t it work is what I’m wondering.0|00|0
he has committerd fresh impeachable offenses is why he was impeached again. Why it didn't work last time is the Republican Party are craven cowards and were scared of his wrath. Only Romney had the integrity to do the right thing. The Republican Party needs to follow Trump into oblivion!
@dmgstarfleet he has done nothing impeachable. when asked to provide an example of him inciting violence (which requires a direct quote) you leftists can't find one
@007kingifrit you're an idiot. "Direct quotes" are not required-inferences are enough. Go to law school and learn the Federal Rules of Evidence. Do not talk about things out your competency.
- Show All Show Less
@dmgstarfleet nope inferences are not enough. you must show his quotes mean beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was calling for violence
brandenberg v ohio is very clear, guess i'm a better lawyer than you@007kingifrit If you were you wouild know that there is no such legal standard as"Beyond shadow of a doubt" Braying out some terminology does not make you a lawyer-my JD and bar license DOES make me a lawyer. So lets see, my informed professional judgement verses your raving uneducated pontifications -you lose!
- The guy acts like a fucking idiot in like a little child probably because he didn't win the election being impeached for the second time the deserves it so be itremember something he doesn't relate to the common man you don't consider yourself 1% of the 1%ers and consider yourself common the guy has a fucking vocabulary of a 10-year-old therefore...0|00|1
- It's hilarious!
He knew we would not turn the election results around so he sent a bunch of angry Trumptards to the capitol as one last "fuck you" to everyone.
Well this is their last "fuck you" to him!2|21|2 - 10,000% against it as congress is just being petty. If they're going to do this then maybe we as American citizens and voters should start impressing members of congress like Pelosi and Schumer for taking money from superpacs to control the American people and deny our rights. Time for a 2 term limit for all congress with no lifetime pay or benefits or Cadillac health benefits1|21|1
- I think it’s stupid the guy has a week left. It’s just a way to say fuck you trump on his way out the senate can’t convict him because he isn’t president anymore so impeachment is a meaningless to me at this point0|31|1
- Not a Trump supporter, but this year sucks already... with COVID getting worse, everything becoming so divided. It seems like 2020 has just carried through...
Can we just get to 2022 already.0|30|1 - GAWD DAMN, this is what Trump winning looks like!!!1|10|1
he spent the past 4 years winning every day for america both nationally and internationally. he's done his part. too bad you let america down
- Show All Show Less
He got impeaxhed 2x, i am pretty sure he let us down.
Trump never was presidential material. All the republiclowns told you so BEFORE the 2016 election. You were warned of his assHOLElyness.you just used a circular logic fallacy; you may not use the conclusion as a piece of evidence for itself
Really? Cause he has been an asshole this whole time, you can't make a tiger change his stripes... its not like he is gonna say asshole for president... you got to figure that out before you elect that ass clown...
being an asshole is a statement of character, i don't value the character of my elected officials. a politician is a policy figure not a moral figure.
trump's policies were good@007kingifrit how is running up the deficit due to tax cuts, that was a good policy? Gee, I thought republiclowns were deficit hawks... guess that went of the window after we had a real president...
- I feel sorry for the guy. They have been so cruel to him ever since he took office, especially the media. Like just give it a break!6|1211|11
Nah, I don't think we will "give him a break" He opened his campaign by calling Mexican Immigrants "Theives, Rapists and Murderers". He bashed the media and mocked the disabled-and you complain the media has been "cruel to him". Cruelty is the coin he spends. Now that your Orange Jesus has failed all you toxic conservatives suddenly rediscover need for healing. Sorry-you have to pay a price for what you did. He will be convicted for his crimes and imprisoned.
@dmgstarfleet You just picked the 3 basic things everyone uses when justifying why trump is "so bad", You only take what you hear from the left media. Sad.
- Show All Show Less
@lanadelrey25 Left and liberal democrats gained only few weak points of Trump, so they will not be able to do that for ever.
@JackSmy Neither is any president above the law but you fucks defend Obama his third wheel, Clinton's corruption like rabid dogs.
No, it wasn't antifa, and Trump spent something like 300 years worth of presidential salary in taxpayer money on golfing, mostly at Trump resorts, which put money into his pockets that way.
It's remarkable, really. Nearly anyone wouldn't survive 1,460 days (4 years) of constsnt harassment and defamation. Not only did he survive it, he's still as spry and energetic as ever. And he's 74 years old, for God's sake.
@SlightlyEccentric What's your DAMAGE? I NEVER said anything about Obummer or Clit-On!! Don't pre-judge me without knowing!! Grow up, and learn how to ask questions, before assuming the WRONG THING!!!
Oh no, journalists made a career proving he was a liar... what a poor guy for making up false statements, perpetuating hatred, bigotry and sexual assault... POOR, POOR, Trumpypoo.
... You're either stupid or delusional, pick one.@CriticalDiscourse Hello, pot? This is the Kettle, YOU ARE BLACK!! An old saying, and when you can pull your head out of your ass, let's chat, ok?
by the way, you would have been an OUTSTANDING NAZI, with that point of view!!@dmgstarfleet half of what you just said is untrue; he never mocked the disabled for example. that was the media twisting his actions to a fake conclusion. but you don't care
here is video proof he never mocked the disabled https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XoS-s4DIGE&t=1s@goaded he can call the election process into doubt whenever he wants, that's his first amendment right
@007kingifrit I know, Trump's supposedly too stupid to understand that words from a president have much more power than from anyone else. Google "Will no-one rid me of this turbulent priest?" for a centuries old example that most people have learned from.
@007kingifrit That video isn't proof of any sort-just a denial that he intended to mock him when he mocked him. You really drank the kool aide. Enjoy the humiliation he has so richly earned. I cannot wait to see this abomination behind bars!
@dmgstarfleet he actually stands for your country's values and wants the best for it. There was none of that for a while
Which Republican value was it that Trump stood for? Treason? Misogyny? Racism? Division? Authoritarianism? Fascism?
@007kingifrit OK, White Knight, get your SHIT STRAIGHT! I NEVER, EVER SAID ANYTHING about mocking the handicapped!
Stop calling me out on shit I didn't say!! That is the sign of an AMAZING "Fake News" reporter!! You would rock, at making up lies, never said, to complain about!
- Sad state of things, but he had it coming.6|71|5
What does Kamala Harris have coming to her for soliciting donations to bail out rioters?
Or does having things coming to you only work in one direction?
- What a loser. Sometimes you have to take the press with a grain of salt. However, I think it still has to be voted on by the senate. Members of the Senate said they wouldn’t pursue impeachment until Biden is sworn in. Otherwise, Trump would be able to stay in office a few more months.1|00|1
every line of your post is so wrong its astounding to read
you can't impeach after someon leaves office, and impeachment would not make trump stay in office longer... what?@007kingifrit don’t know. Thy just bars on on the articles I read. They are still waiting to impeach him. They are still considering it’s just red again on it last night.
yea the articles you read are lying. you can't impeach after he leaves office, the supreme court would need to rule on this
- I agree with Don Jr. that his father is not just deplorable, but DOUBLE deplorable.
A son knows best! 1|10|0Trump Jr. personifies the textbook definition of a chip off the old block... of shit.
- The outsider is kicked out by the system. Gr3at job everyone. Now the rest of us know we will have to remove your country from your self-appointed position as world fuhrer by force. Go China, go!1|00|0
@Levin You are right, he's a billionare so he's not even a propper outsider. And still, the machine is working this hard to try to barr him from running again. That is a sygnal to us foreigners that the American people can not be counted on to peacefully step down. So i repeat: Go China, go!
He got impeached because he’s corrupt (that was the first time) and now because he’s also treasonous. Has nothing to do with him being a non career politician. Like there’s so many other reasons people don’t like him lmfaoo trust me the fact that’s he’s a so called outsider is not one of them
- Show All Show Less
@Mishan97 It's my job to follow politics in the world. And trust me, they are all corrupt. Always are, were and will be. So that is not the problem. The only reason he has so much problems is because he was not working for the system 100% of the time. His mistake however is that he was not working against it.
- Has he actually been impeached, or are they still trying to figure that out in the supreme court?0|00|0
Also. This was his second time running for president. last I checked you're only allowed to run for president twice in your lifetime. That being said Trump doesn't exactly have any aspirations to become a senator or anything else having to do with politics. He also didn't have any political careers before he became president. The way I see it this is too little too late. Ultimately what is this really going to do aside from history books remembering how America would just lie down and take it like a bitch when our democracy was threatened? Don't get me wrong, I don't disagree that this guy deserves to be impeached. I simply just think that doing so after his presidency serves no point, and the punishment for what he's done should land him several years in prison at least.
- I feel frustration. Both were rooted in lies and completely unwarranted. And no, I have no desire to have a keyboard debate with anyone. Over a cup of coffee... Im in.0|00|0
- LOL!!! AND LOL!!!https://www.youtube.com/embed/zjedLeVGcfEWe have become the CLOWNS, to the WORLD, with this prick as President!!0|01|0
- Just goes to show how afraid the establishment is of Trump.1|30|0
- What i learnt is that now he can't run for office anymore
Supposedly he wanted to run again in 2024
Oh well
Wonder how his supporters will react
Because this is definitely the biggest loss here0|00|1No my psychologist told me just the fact that he has been impeached ruins that for him
He doesn't have to be found guilty
I was like that some cheap shit right there
- Two times is too many. He should’ve been removed the first time around.0|00|0
- It doesn’t really matter much unless he gets removed.2|10|0
Actually, it does matter. If he's convicted in this impeachment, he'll never be able to run for office again in any capacity.
- He made history by being the first president ever to be impeached two times lol2|20|0
- Huge waste of time. Do you think that an acquittal means he can really pull a Cleveland and win reelection in 2024?0|10|2
- It's nice that that will be his very fitting legacy, but ultimately doesn't change much. The damage is already done.1|00|0
- Shouldn't they have just let the retard go? he's gone in a few days anyway.
This will stir up his base even further!1|00|0Yes, he would have had to leave office next week regardless, but the impeachment makes him ineligible to ever run for president again. He could have theoretically run again in 2024 otherwise.
- I'm done hearing about him. Our whole political system is jacked and he's just one of the many straws breaking the horse's back.3|40|0
