This question isn't about nursing homes and covid. It is about three women saying that they got the impression that the single Andrew Cuomo was attracted to them. He even allegedly kissed a lady once. Should he resign in shame?

"As I got up to leave and walk toward an open door, he stepped in front of me and kissed me on the lips," Lindsey Boylan wrote, describing the encounter. "I was in shock, but I kept walking."

Another lady named Charlotte Bennett dropped this bombshell, "Without explicitly saying it, he implied to me that I was old enough for him and he was lonely," she said.

I don’t know a ton about it, other than some allegations were made.

First and foremost, I think we need to stop making it a political issue. There’s too much concern with people getting these “GOTCHA!” moments, due to party affiliation. One of the most troubling things to me in the news today is this obsession with hypocrisy. Of course hypocrisy is annoying, but get used to it, because literally everybody does it, in some way or another. “Pelosi said to wear masks, and we caught her with her mask down at a salon!” A couple years ago it was “Chris Christie closed the beaches due to Hurricane Sandy, yet here are paparazzi pictures of he and his whole family on an otherwise empty beach!”

It’s all minutiae that we choose to sensationalize because it allows our egos to feel “right” in that moment, like we won an argument, but it doesn’t win you anything but fleeting satisfaction, and there’s zero chance of stamping it out because it’s just a universal human trait. We judge ourselves on our intentions while we judge others solely on their actions. We do what’s comfortable or convenient for ourselves, often rationalizing it with reasons/excuses, but we expect others to not do the same, and we never want to hear their excuses. So I think this applies to a lot of interpersonal concepts today, but we might as well just cut to the chase and have Civil War 2: Electric Boogaloo if we’re just going to demonize anyone and everyone with opposing opinions. The answers are so clearly in the middle for so many things, but everyone is too stubborn to meet there. And all of our egos are to blame, because we refuse to acknowledge ourselves as emotionally-driven beings. Even our supposed logical decisions are based on our emotions. I feel myself spinning off the rails into a tangent, so I’m going to shut myself up, lmao.

But the point is, this is just another alleged “GOTCHA!” moment for one side, and they can tie in everyone’s favorite buzzword “hypocrisy” and talk about times the left has gone after right wingers for similar infractions or at least of the same general nature of sexual impropriety, particularly since the movement against sexual impropriety has been mostly spearheaded by the left. So conservatives will dance over this, as they have the left painted into a corner, and they get to either call them hypocrites for not being tough enough on them, or they can revel in the left eating one of their own. But again, it’s a fleeting feeling of satisfaction, and we go back to suppressing our emotions and pretending we’re too tough and logical to be dictated by them, while subconsciously being constantly dictated by them. That fleeting satisfaction could be traded for facing down your true feelings head on, allowing that discomfort to be processed, and then going forward in life with a much happier mindset where you don’t create greater emotional distress by suppressing the smaller emotional distresses. But here I go again, lmao.

Bottom line, specific to Cuomo... we have to hear everyone out, believe everyone until there’s reason not to, and understand moral gray areas. I don’t care to be judge and jury on this one, I’m just saying that, if there was any poor behavior, that’s more of a societal issue of overly aggressive approaches from some men, and probably a lot to do with power dynamic abuse as well. Certainly not an issue to eschew, but I think we as a society need to recalibrate ourselves to hate the offense but not the offender. Ousting Andrew Cuomo and submarining his political and tarnishing his reputation... what does that really do? Do we get anything besides schadenfreude from seeing a guy bummed out because his life was ruined for his mistakes? We say it’s a deterrent, but is it? People have been getting ruined for longer than any of us...

Let’s just start denouncing aggressive sexual approaches as a societal practice, rather than focusing on cancelling people for doing it, with a focus on making sure they feel the punitive pain.
