Several reasons. Here are the two most important.

• Foot fetishes are heavily submissive, and VERY few women want a heavily submissive man.
Even women who are dominant, sexually speaking -- and who actually *want* a man who's mainly sexually submissive -- STILL don't want a man who'll kiss their feet and lick their boots, either literally or figuratively. Even dominant women still want a man who's a MAN, and who is assertive, and who is a *challenge*, and whose submission comes with some sort of effort and intimacy.
So... In this sentence, a foot fetish signals a VERY strong tendency that almost NO woman wants.
I suppose it's *possible* that there could be a dominant man with a foot fetish, but... that seems extremely unlikely.

• Foot fetishes tend to concentrate in -- and branch off into -- stuff that ISN'T FOCUSED ON THE WOMAN.
See, this is the difference from other things you mentioned (like spanking and BDSM in general) -- THOSE things are FOCUSED ON YR PARTNER. THOSE things CANNOT EXIST WITHOUT yr partner. They are, by definition, things you do WITH yr partner.
Foot fetishists, on the other hand, tend to get into stuff like masturbating with shoes, and licking floors, and... all kinds of stuff that HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WOMAN AT ALL.
So... not only does this fetish paint the *man* in an unattractive light, but, it also makes it seem like you kinda don't really give a shit about the WOMAN, either. Like she's just... incidental. An accessory to the fetish.

  It's definitely nowhere close to that league of awfulness. But, for the reasons I've tried to lay out here, the vast majority of women would instinctively think "eeehhhhhh I wouldn't want this man as MY man".

  Yeah I can completely understand your logic. It makes perfect sense. I usually put on an act, and pretend like I'm some alpha confident guy that is dominant. It's not who I truly am, but I'm just generally way too embarrassed to admit it. I'm even too embarrassed to give a girl a foot massage or something like that because I wouldn't want her to get suspicious. I mostly see girls in their early 20's to late 20's so it could also be a maturity thing. I'm assuming females over the age over 30 see things your way more, but girls under that just see guys with foot fetishes as disgusting weirdo creeps more than some heavily submissive guy.

  Nah, they probably just can't articulate it because it's all subconscious. I mean, even the notion of "I don't want a submissive guy" is probably something that women that age have never explicitly thought about. It's ALL subconscious. So it just manifests as "ewww weirdo".

  Yes, ear wax. It's the closet thing I can compare the feeling to so you'd understand better. I paint my toenails to hide how jacked up they look when I wear open-toed shoes. Some do it to hide nail infections or abnormalities. Some just do it to match their clothes.
