He always asks to keep the lights off during sex? Do guys like sex with lights off? Or am I not attractive to him?

Me and this guy have been seeing eachother for 8 months now. Over half the time we hang out or go out on little dates, we end the night having sex. However, everytime he tries to get me in the mood... he turns off the lights. After the lights are off (but the tv is still on) thats when he wants to get undressed and undresses me. He rarely ever takes his shirt off and I don't understand why? I first thought that maybe he's insecure with his body but in public he seems so very confident in himself and his looks.

Could he just be ashamed of me and not want to see me naked (bc i am a full figured/curvy girl)? Or do some guys prefer sex with lights off?

  • Maybe he finds it more romantic. In the old days it was candlelight and wine. Now TV light and wine? Probably bright enough to make pretty sure it's not about you. Still plenty of light there for him to adore your gorgeous curves!
Odd about his shirt, though. Surgical or a burn scar? Ugly tattoo? Suggests to me that it's about him, not you.

    • He liked to keep the tv on if my roommate was home bc he felt a little embarrassed if she knew what we were doing, lol.. I've seen him shirtless before and he has nothing to hide but its rare for him to take it off. Maybe he is a little insecure deep down now that I really think of it.

  • Talk to him. I'm guessing it's a bit more complicated than that.

Here're some tips on how to approach him:

  • It sounds like he's insecure about his body from what you've said. Sometimes the image that people portray outwardly is betrayed by their actions. Lights off/shirt on screams insecurity. I don't think it's you. He has been with you for 8 months and likely thinks you're beautiful.

  • It's probably that he is insecure of his body. I used to be like that too. It's nothing against you, just that he's not comfortable with himself.

  • I’m insecure about my body and prefer lights off

    • He’s probably the same

  • It very much sounds like he may have a complex a bit, does he get ready quite quick or does it take a while?

  • It's him.

  • It's him, not you!

  • I would say that probably up to my late 20's I preferred the lights to be off. Probably just from being shy or whatever. Now I not inhibited and I like the lights on!
