What do you think of the democratization of sex work through platforms such as onlyfans?

In the past few months there's been an "onlyfans" trend where hundreds if not thousands of women have been sharing lewd pictures in exchange of a paid monthly subscription (pretty much monetizing nudes).

This has in some sense, democratized "sex work" by making it more accessible to a wider variety of women whereas the porn industry perhaps less accessible and more selective.

Some say it is a great way for women to be in charge of their body without having to go through a pimp or a porn industry that would take advantage of them.

While others think that it is quite sad that women are capitalizing off their body/sex which in a way desacralizes the human body and sex.

What's your opinion?

That site has definitely been a trend these past few months! To be extremely honest, I don’t think it has much to do with “democratized sex work”, because women from both parties partake in creating profiles. I think it’s just because of the fast cash, tbh. Which party someone favors doesn’t matter so much as the persons morals, and when they’re busting their ass making minimum wage at a 9-5 while their friend from high school makes up to 2k a night, those morals can go right out the window. Hearing about success through the app is tempting. Especially since girls can get away with simply posting lingerie and bikini photos.

Well sex sells. You can look at a great number of products that have nothing to do with attractive people or sex, yet they use it to sell. So our world is already captivated by sex basicly. I don't mind that women use it to make more money or feel better about themselves. I don't use onlyfans, but I've heard that not everything is about sex but most is. But I'm fine with it. If it makes you happy while understanding the consequences go for it.
I kinda wish I had a hot bod and the confidence to do something like that. Have a lot of respect for people that just put themselves out there like that.

Calling it "sex work" is trying to normalize conduct that most people consider to be immoral: prostitution or whoring. If you had a 14 year old daughter, how would you feel if you learned that she sold naked pictures of herself to friends for money? How would you feel if your father or mother found naked pictures of their granddaughter online?

I really don't care what someone does to make money if it isn't hurting anyone I care about (within reason). With that said, I don't subscribe to any onlyfans accounts. I have no reason to. I can watch just about anything for free somewhere online. Why would I pay for it?

It's their choice and they are playing more safe than meeting, I'm not to familiar with only fans, only from what when Riley Reid advertises it for herself.

Women have a choice, they don't have to do this so if they do then it's either an easy way to make extra money or they haven't got a job and though it's a quick way to do it.

Well, porn is free, onlyfans is paid for most part. Also it is not right to do both and if someone thinks it democraticizes both then they are wrong it it commercialising human interaction.
FYI, most of these girls who are sharing lewd acts now will end up alone for most part

i think it's hilarious how women have been shouting for decades about how men sexualize them, and how they don't use their bodies to get what they want in life; but they keep telling us how hard they work... and here they are again. Trying to make money off of showing their bodies to men.
