No… I do not understand this at all. Physical harm to one’s self or others to the point of bruising or drawing blood should not be seen as pleasure. How is this not self harm with help? I feel like I would ask them to see someone. I’m not trying to be funny. I would genuinely be concerned.

There is a difference. But it *is* dangerous and it must be practised safely. But it can be practised safely and the intentions can be pleasure or closure in a D/s dynamic. You can read about D/s if you want to understand it. It's a bit too long to describe and explain here.

Authority, order, and punishment are quite present in BDSM. Also "bratty" behaviour, or rebellion against authority, which leads to punishment and pleasure (fun-ishment). But authority is a source of (prolonged) pleasure, not exactly something to break free of. I think kinks (at least some of them, as in D/s) go deeper than simply breaking free from sexual norms and status quo. It's about authority and power itself, the force behind all kinds and types of informal and formal control of behaviours, and creating a (functional) dynamic in which you feel happy with yourself and the authority itself, based on your needs and desires. We often think we dislike norms, but we usually dislike "someone else's norms", because they prevent us from establishing our own; to create the environment in which we feel at home. Rebellion is another thing. It's our never ending struggle with order and stagnation. It's about our need for change. In short, I don't think norms cause the pleasure one gets from kinks. In our languages, a "kink" is any act outside of the sexual norms of a society. In one society, even fellatio could be kinky. But breaking that rule wouldn't necessarily be the cause of pleasure, but it could make it a little psychologically intense for the first few times until it becomes your new normal. The same way, pleasure from pain could be a need. The taboo aspect can increase stress related to it, and maybe make a situation where you and your teenage boyfriend are playing games, more intense, as you fear your parents catch you tied up. Thanks for detailed reply I appreciate it. I like domination/submission stuff, I have developed my own understanding about this topic. Basic principle I look at is sexual tension and orgasm as sexual tension release. So from there i can make my own moves to make it work because to be dominant is to lead and not follow. Often mistake if sub says to for example to hit me harder or do whatever harder, If i do then im following and not leading thus sub actually becomes dominant as she's telling me what to do next and loses that sexual tension, then often she might think that harder or more roughness is the answer but i question it. And thats where when pain thing comes up it makes me wonder hmm is there connection. Obviously this is room for exploration to understand it in better detail and im open minded enough to give it a try with the right person.
