I was so excited today when I logged on, because I had a new message. The subject line said "hi" so I opened it up-it read something like this "yo b*tch, y don't you suck my d*ck, yea you are ugly"-what is that all about? My only guess is that "beast69e" didn't agree with one of my answers but still how immature is that? Has anyone else had problems with dumb messages on this site? I'm very interested to hear any other examples of people being proving to themselves and others that there is no hope for them.

Dolphinlover sorry to have such a message in your inbox. Like NotSoBad said, these types of things can be spam or like you said, immature people whose account needs to removed. We do not moderate or monitor individual private messages unless we see high number of messages sent from the same user in a small period of time.

To prevent these from happening, you can click on this person's profile and on his/her profile page then click on Report link. When a profile is reported our moderation team checks their profile page, if the complaint is not due to content on this page, we are discarding this report.

That being said, if you are reporting someone due to his message being spam or any other reason besides some inappropriate information on his/her profile page, please send us an email via the contact us page with an explanation and we will take care of it.

This will hep us deal with spam more effectively.
Thanks for bringing it up.

Austin NotSoBad, if you see messages from "weirdos" again :), please let us know so we can take care of it. Like annwyl-cariad said, it's pretty common everywhere but that's not an excuse for us to say "it happens on every site". We need to minimize as much as we can and even fix it so you don't waste time with weirdos:) - 8 months ago

I don't get messages like that on here. But I have gotten them on other sites and the best way to deal with them is to not take them personally. Laugh about how stupid they are and move on. Ignore them and the people will stop eventually.

Some people do take them seriously and it ends up being this one big gong show. So I'd just tell you to delete them and move on.

I haven't had that problem on this site (in fact, I rarely get messages on this site at all), but I've had it on others. I used to have a profile on OkCupid and this creepy older guy started soliciting me incessantly. When I told him to get lost (though I was a fair bit more polite than that), he started posting incredibly ride comments all over my profile and journal entries. I ended up blocking him and he left me alone after that.

Basically, people can be incredibly stupid and rude, and you have to just not take it personally. I'd just delete the message and ignore him, and if he continues to bother you, block him.
