So, my 20 year old daughter went to NY Thursday to be a contestant on Americas Next Top Model. She made it to the second round. So proud. But, I have never seen the show. Have any of you seen the show and can anyone tell me if I should be worried?

That's cool she's made it onto the show. I've watched a few seasons worth with my sister. The show is rather tame for the most part; The judges almost get more air-time than the girls do. Just remind her before she goes on the show, that anything she says when a camera is in the same room with her will most likely be fair game to be on the actual broadcast.

Well congrats to your daughter! I love that show because Tyra Banks is very good with teaching young girls how to be happy with themselves and others. She gains such a great relationship with them that she cries when she has to let one go. I don't think you have anything to worry about because this will be a great experience for your daughter and will give her exposure if she decides to pursuit her modeling career regardless of the outcome. I wish you both the best of luck! That is soooo awesome!

Oh you have nothing to be worried about. Everyone has pretty much covered things about having a backbone and not letting their critiques get to her. But the show is tasteful, girls can be catty a lot but you'll get that whenever you put 14 girls together in a house. If they do nude shoots they're never like porn or anything so she should be fine. Congrats to her, that's so awesome!

I love that show I watch it every time. There is nothing to be worried about. No one gets hurt and they never do anything dangerous. There will be lots of drama in the house she is living in but you should be proud of her the further she makes it. The show will giver her a makeover and help her to be a better model. I'm going to go on the show when I get out of high school also. I hope I have as much luck as your daughter!

I have seen all of the seasons except for the first one and I don't miss it when it comes on. Even if she does not win, she will be exposed to a lot of designers and places that she never thought she could go. It may be the boos she needs. All of the pictures are tastefully done and most of the girls are beautiful. I don't think that you have to worry about her if she is able to handle herself in many types of situations and has a good head on her shoulders. Tell her pay close attention to what the judges say, usually there is a challenge or photo shoot or industry party that will have something to do with the advice that they give. Be confident. That is half the battle and never let them see her upset or on edge about ANYTHING. The women on the show can be catty and down right devious. On every season the top 6 I think get to go to some exotic country and live there for the last 6 weeks of the show, then they have to walk in this absolutely beautiful runway show that determines the winner. Make sure that her personality shows through, but not so much that the judges think that she is unpredictable or an idiot. I could never do it but I find it fascinating to get a behind the curtain look at the modeling industry.

Ok girl...I have seen the show for many seasons and your daughter does need to be tough and not let catty women bother her. It's a reality show, keep in mind, so drama is a must. Also, some of the photo shoots can be a little racy...such as tastefully nude so as long as she is comfortable with herself, and tries to stay out of the drama as much as she can, she should be fine. Some of the judges can be a little harsh too so make sure she has a strong backbone...also if she makes it on the show...have her get me a Tyra autograph! hehe..

Are you serious - your daughter made it to the second round - that is so cool! Wait is she in this season or the next one? No I don't think you should be worried as long as she's tough and knows how to handle herself she's good! Basically it's about I think 12 to 14 girls that live in the same house for as long as they make it to the next round - they compete and go on to the next round, they sometimes go to other countries and take pictures there! If you want to watch it just tune in into cw11 or I don't think Ohio gets that channel or mtv - NY is a tough place but if she knows how to handle herself and isn't naive then she's perfectly fine (not to scare you) but don't worry I mean I'm 20 and I can take care of myself too except that you sound just like my mother when she's worried but it's ok though, she'll be fine, Good luck to her!
