What is settling?

They are actually saying they are not good enough to find the happiness they deserve, they are selling themselves short, not giving themselves enough credit, they are cheating themselves out of possibly being happy, they are giving up. Just my opinion, hope I helped!

When you settle for someone, you pretty much give up on the dream girl that you are looking for, and go with someone else that doesn't meet your criteria. It's sort of like "You're not pretty as I imagined, but you'll do".

Sorry, but your question makes the whole thing sound so morbid . It shouldn't be . I think that it is when you decide that you're happy with one person and that's the one that you want because they're perfect . The other person is awesome, and you want to do anything you can to make them 'settle' (SUCH a morbid sounding word) with you too . It's about giving and receiving love, not mere acceptance of your crappy fate .

Settling is failure in my eyes... You've started off with a dream and now your willing to give up and you tell yourself that perhaps this is the best you were meant to do. The worst of settling, to me, is that once you made that decision then nothing else is important and you start to give up on other things such as your respect, your career, your self-esteem, your principles, etc.

If anybody decides to settle in a relationship then at least do yourself a favor and make sure they have a pretty good personality. I've seen guys and girls who have settled on a partner with a dominant personality and nothing is literally left of them - their spirit has been broken and they no longer have /any/ dreams or desires. Not a life I would wish on my worst enemies.

Settling is going out with someone instead of being patient. It's having an idea of what you want in a guy or girl, but instead of looking for that, you get tired of being single, so you will just settle for the first cute thing that likes you.

They are going to stop roaming around looking for another playmate our boyfriend, girlfriend, etc which means that they will stay with that person they are with, possibly getting some fair ground such as an apartment, house, maybe a kid, pet, etc .

Ugly (personality or looks) people are more attracted to beautiful people than they are to other ugly people, but don't have a chance with anyone on their top 10/100/100000, so they find another urchin that will at least keep them warm at night by paying the heating bill .
