I have been reading a lot of questions on this site lately where both girls and guys are asking about "slutty" behavior and "slutty" girls. I have also read a lot of questions and responses which refer to guys as "players". Is this just a less offensive way of calling a man a slut? There's not too many girls who would aspire to be a slut, but there are plenty of guys out there who are proud of their player status. What do you think?
I voted D. I think that it is a less offensive way to say a man is a slut. I can't exactly say that I'd appreciate being called a player, though. In fact I can scarcely think of anything I'd hate more. I mean, honestly, just look at the actual meaning of the word: someone who plays. When you equate that with someone that sleeps around, it's offensive because it means that he's not serious about anyone that he sleeps with. It's just a game to him. I want my wife some day to feel my absolute appreciation of her and my commitment to her and only her. I want her to honestly know that I take her seriously and that I want nobody but her. To be called a player would make that into a joke, and I would hate that.
The way I understood it is this. A slut is a woman who blatantly screws anything and everything for free and has actually had sex with folks by the hundreds. Sleazy, unclean and trashy looking. A player is a person(man or woman) who tried to find as many people as possible to try and find one person to keep by dating and having sex with multiple people at once. Thus the term "playing the field". Wht is the difference? A player is a two-timer who is dating multiple women at once or bouncing from one women to the next, does not have to be entirely successful with gaining sex. A slut just has sex regardless of whether they want a keeper or not. A slut will screw a man on the spot in much ways as a street whore or for free.
That is how it was back then, it may be different now. Things do change over the years. I remember the days when a slut was any woman who had sex before marriage be it once or otherwise.
Guys can f*** a lot of girls but are a player a lot of girls still like to date. But when girls do the same guys find them dirty and just want them for sex never as a girlfriend.
I think that if I girl goes and has a lot of guys then people her consider her a slut but as you said when a guys does it he is a "player". Witch is TOTAL bullshit! It is DOUBLE STANDARD crap and it is ridiculous! I think guy or girl and you go out and mess around with a bunch or different girls or guys you are not really a slut or man hoar just every "FRIENDLY"! It is just how people look and and think about it all!
I think it is just again DOUBLE STANDARD BULLSHIT!
Men can be sluts too. I'm not sure there's a difference between a man hoe and a player but I think it's only right that they get the same title as girls and not something made up to glamorize promiscuity. To me slut, hoe, skank, whore, and any others you can think of, go for both genders. If you're a skank you're a skank regardless of what's in your pants.
Women have evolved to be selective, to wait for the best male to come along so she will have the healthiest offspring possible. Men have evolved to be promiscuous, to produce the most offspring possible, which will continue the next generation of the species.
Because women are choosy, a guy that sleeps with a lot of women must have qualities about him that they deem favorable for reproduction, making him an alpha male.
Well to me I think that if a girl is called a slut they refer to her that she is nasty. But I don't think it is that way for a guy to be a slut because when he is called player it seems like a different status which I prefer to call him a man Whore.
There's this bias against women that if she sleeps with too many boys she is considered a slut, is there a same thing for guys? I've heard of people...
