I met this guy and I started liking him really quickly he was nice funny mature etc. It was great but all of a sudden he seemed overly nice and sweet and the only thing he cared about was my opinion. It seemed like he didn't have a separate mind to think for him self so I guess what I'm asking is do you like when a guy is overly nice and always agrees with you just to please you.
Ughhh, this is classic "nice guy" syndrome. The problem isn't that he is nice, it is that he is needy. He needs your attention and wants to keep you around so desperately that he'll basically do anything you ask of him. He has put you up on a pedestal and thus lowered his value as a confident and competent male. Unfortunately, no one ever told him that this is not an attractive quality. It's hard to respect someone who can't think for themselves.
Its funny; my girlfriend told me she broke up with a great guy for just this reason. He always did what she wanted, and agreed with him. I'm a nice guy, but I sure don't want it to happen to me! I think the girl just gets bored when a guy acts like this and this happens!
It's called turning into a wussy. Once a guy likes a girl, many have the tendency to go soft in order to get the girl to like them. But what they don't realize is that it makes them look weaker. You want someone to be in control and give their opinion always, even if it doesn't agree with your own. He's not doing this because he likes you a lot and he wants you to like him. Well there you go, no further input can be given.
I can't answer from the perspective of a girl talking about her boyfriend, but I can say that a guy can be 'too nice' as you put it. He can be like that, where he doesn't have an opinion. It isn't good as it can cause a problem down the line where he doesn't like a decision that's been made but it has been made and he had nothing to do with it. It's not right. A relationship takes two or more (depending on the type) and to only have one working mind (ie, one mind doing the work, not that his mind is malfunctioning) means that it can't work as effectively as it should.
It's always better to be with someone who has their own mind and opinions and who has the guts to be themselves no matter what. It sounds like he's sooo excited that he has you. He thinks you're amazing and he doesn't want to loose you. He's just scared and we know guys NEVER admit to being scared. So if you really like him, talk to him. Tell him exactly what you said here. Tell him that you prefer for him to be himself -- the way he was when you first started seeing each other (Nice, funny, mature, etc. ) Tell him you don't always need to be agreed with, you need honesty and you also like a challenge.
