Nope ot bad. I would of said the same thing. I only refer to people as my friends if we have talked for a long time and hung out. If not than I just know them. If she said you were her friend that would be weird you known her for a week how are you friends already? That's how I look at it
I would worry if you had been talking to each other for the past couple of months and she said that. But you have only been taking since last week, right? So I wouldn't worry too much. She is still talking to you, so clearly she likes you. You seem worried that you didn't talk to her for a day... I doubt that this would be a problem for her (or any normal girl); if it is, she needs to chill. Relax.
She is probably just as worried as you are about seeming too eager. So this is one reason she might have downplayed your connection. Another reason is that she might have close friends who she has known for years; she might feel like she hasn't known you long enough to classify you as a friend. Another reason is that she might be scoping out whether she wants to date you and not have made up her mind yet.
So the bottom line is, it's impossible to say why she wouldn't have referred to you as a friend. But a lot of people can be weird about classifying people as friends for a variety of reasons. It doesn't mean that you'll never be friends or that she doesn't like you. So relax, the only way to find out what she is thinking is to keep chatting with her. Good luck!
