1. From my parents who have a morality based on Christian ideals. 2. I accept the notion of adaptation and natural selection but as far as humans evolving from apes, no. 3. My meaning is to be a good person and experience what life has to offer. 4. I've saved a life. 5. I would kill for my family but wouldn't kill somebody because they weren't Christian. 6. I'm a Christian because believing in God and religious morals helps you to be a better person, and takes away the finality of death. 7. Sorry for the wrong that I've done. 8. Today the most dangerous is Islam, in the past it was Catholicism. 9. Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism are all peaceful religions. 10. I already believe in God. 11. The world would not be a better place without religion. 12. Government is around because it is needed, politics has the capability of healthy debate though often involves corruption. 13. I would not kill either Hitler or Stalin because to kill either would take away from what was caused as a result of their life. 14. Stem cell research may provide insight into new cures, though I do not believe fetuses should be harvested as if they're not human. 15. Abortion is wrong but sadly is is necessary. If people waited for marriage to have children then abortion wouldn't be needed. Adoption is a much better solution. 16. I would approve of "torture" if it would in anyway save the lives or potentially save the lives of American troops. 17. Animals who cannot survive without human intervention should not be saved (natural selection). 18. Some criminals cannot be allowed to live. 19. I believe in aliens, ghosts, and spirits. I don't see why a Christian cannot. 20. I would sacrifice myself for a loved one, but I know I wouldn't end up in hell. 21. You die then depending on how you lived your life you are either rewarded or punished. Whether that be going to heaven/ hell, or reincarnation I am not sure, but I believe the soul is immortal. 22. I have never been dead.
1, From experiences and my view points of life. There are concepts I have that have also been inspired from Joe Strummer, Che Guevara and the ska punk scene but generally I go by is it right or wrong.
2, I don't accept it at face value but it explains everything better than Adam & Eve starting everything but not explaining the variations of everyone in the world.
3, There's none, life is simply a series of moments to do with as I please, I have set my personal goal of fulling my potential and to beat the odds associated with my background.
4, I have helped strangers without hesitation and not expected a thing in return.
5, No, I would kill to protect someone but not impose my values
6, All people opinions are valid regardless, although I'd say I'm agnostic but if there was a good why would he not send a messenger to say to stop these stupid wars in my name or Allah/Jesus is the prophet etc.
7, Why isn't your presence felt on Earth and left it to the hands of corrupt organizations?
8, Anything that evolves human sacrifices, but perhaps the Muslim for the "honor killing" but that may be culture as opposed to religious.
9, Buddhism, Agnostic, Objectism
10, I don't know, even if I met him or Jesus I'd label him a crazy person, hallucination, the same with a miracle
11, Yes, there's less conflict/prejudice but still not perfect
12, Distrust the people how run it, more often than not these people are serving themselves or comes from families and see it as easy ride, rarely have I met a politician I trust.
13, No, that happened and I wouldn't interfere with the course of events
14, It allows cures for paralysis, disabled etc. to allows them to fulfill a more equal life
15, It's morally questionable but not evil
16, To protect someone, to teach someone consequence of actions, to punish the truly evil
17, Yes
18, Yes, if some is impossible of fitting in to society without creating damage with no possible rehabilitation then it seems fairer than life in prison
i learned about life from a Frenchwoman, a pagan like most Frenchwomen, who believed many gods exist but not in any hierarchy.
I am opposed to our capi9talist ruling class and their women. I can't abide mistreatment of animals, let alone humans. Abortion is not evil...ignorance that leads to them is evil, often, though. Capital punishment only for drug peddlers and CIA agents. I wouldn't know about death, never made her acquaintance. Ihave no issue with any religion, but some of the governing heirarchies are no different from our governments.
I would not kill for an idea. The only time I have beennear death was when I dated a Jewish princess.
The effency of capital punishement is vastly unefficent but what could you exspect from a country such as the united states which is split in two concerning this issue? The methoids of capital punishment could very easily be improved and I have no doubt be less then that of life imprisionment. - 20 days ago
1. I received my morality from my upbringing. As a basic rule of thumb, never do anything to harm another person. Be courteous and conscientious of other people’s feelings.
2. I accept evolution but acknowledge is has its flaws. I believe in evolution because of recent studies done in DNA manipulation showing there are genes present in modern day animals which can be manipulated into producing characteristics of prehistoric animals.
3. The meaning/purpose of my life is to enjoy it.
4. I gave someone’s life purpose.
5. Absolutely not.
6. I an atheist because I’ve never had the rational to constitute a god. My position is valid because the majority is always wrong. Control and justification of the unknown is human nature and the reason religions exist.
7. I would ask him all the greatest questions which have plagued science as long as its existed.
8. Islamic Muslims in today’s day and age. Christianity in the past.
9. Buddhism, Shinto, and Daoism.
10. Apart from undeniable proof or actually meeting “it”, nothing.
11. Absolutely not. Religions are not bad. They preach “rightious” characteristics and give their followers a sense of being.
12. I like the idea of dimocracy and a president but it has allot of flaws. I won’t get indept because I could easily exceed the character limit with this alone.
13. No. We learn from our mistakes and if we erase them they will envitably happen in another form.
14. The potential scientific gains.
15. Abortion is not evil. I don’t find it morally wrong because a fetus cannot awknolege life or death.
16. Nothing. Torture is barbaric and has no place in modern society.
17. Animals have been going exstint long before we ever set foot on this earth. It is apart of life. We should be mindful of the destruction we leave in our wake but also realise it’s a part of the evolution of earth.
18. Yes I believe in capatial punishment. There are people this world would be better without. Why have the tax payers work all their life to support someone who returns nothing to society.
19. I believe in alian life forms, yes. In what pretence I’m uncertain but if life can exist on earth is it so unbelievible to think there is life (if only a single cell orgaisim) in existance someone on the countless planets throughout space. I don’t believe in ghosts or spirits.
20. Yes. I don’t believe I would end up in hell for not believing in god. I don’t force my beliefs upon others and I live a life of goodness and acceptance. If there is a god I don’t think he would feel the need to be praised.
21. You die, your body goes through decompisition, and the very essence of everything, living or not are filtered back into the universe to be used in what ever form seen fit.
22. Depends on your definition of what constitutes life. I don’t consider myself alive if I cannot awknoldge life… that being said, yes. I was created dead.
Interesting, there's some I disagree with (I'm an atheist as well). Of note, it costs more money to execute someone than it does to imprison them for life. http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/costs-death-penalty has great info on the financial costs of death row. - 23 days ago
Answerer
That's only one way of execution. There are much more equally effective and cost efficient ways to execute someone quick and painlessly. - 23 days ago
Question Asker
Oh you mean outside the legal system. - 23 days ago
Answerer
Not necessarily. There are many ways civilized nations perform executions. There is death by lethal injection, the electrical chair, gas chamber, firing squad, hanging, beheading, guillotine, and others.
My personal opinion a firing squad is the most effective and cost efficient way of execution. If you were to automate the process rather then having live people pull the triggers it would be ideal. Multiple bullets to the heart would equal a quick and painless death.

Question Asker
The method of death isn't what makes it costly. It's the legal process and the 'holding cells' for death row. It takes on like $90,000 extra a year (from memory, like I said see that link).
Personally I'm against the death penalty for ethical/moral reasons. The system is flawed and there has been people exonerated from death row, I'd rather give 'death row' people life (never to be released) just in case we got it wrong. - 20 days ago

That site you gave me leaves more questions unanswered then answered. Not to mention the question of accuracy is left undetermined. The information is received from government reports which have an uncannily president for giving false information to further their own agenda's.
Information like "Counties manage these high costs by decreasing funding for highways and police and by increasing taxes" is a speculation. The site is against capital punishment and has a biased opinion. - 20 days ago
Answerer
What about the federal costs which speculate an average anywhere from 320,000 to 620,000 dollars for representation. That?s a very large viration.
Now I?m not saying I don?t believe the cost of capital punishement is less then that of life inpisionment but I am saying the information given is not confirmed nore should it considered acurrate.

To be fair, you're accurate in it being a 'site with an agenda'. I too would like more accurate data, but personally I'm against the death penalty for the reasons stated above.
Interesting sidenote. When I say my stance, I'm often met with "you wouldn't know what some of these sickos do" type responses. I should therefore state that I'm a psych nurse and work in a forensic psychiatry ward (w/ antisocial disorder patients and paedophiles). - 19 days ago
You can feel free to answer the questions if you like. The reason it's called "The atheist's challenge" was because Brett gave a similar questionnaire to Christian's earlier. I think he's looking to see the differences. - 23 days ago
