I have become aware of this 'role switching' scenario between men and women becoming all the more frequent, but 90% of the time portrayed in the media and film industry, especially in anime movies, where the women are the tought war mongering heros and the men the caring and protective ones trying to keep peace. It used to be ironic and revolutionary 20 to 40 years ago but lately it just seems strange and disturbing, even an accepted concept under some.
Yes, men and women are more or less inclined to fit certain roles simply due to biology, but what culture and what the media portray as male/female roles are LARGELY bullshit.
A guy who is caring and tries to keep peace is not really a feminine man. He's just a man who's like. Smart?
