I agree with the other comments. It may be a case where she is very controlling and he doesn't want his girlfriend to even think he is interested in you. He could be both shy and scared.

I don't know if this helps but, me and my friend are really cool and his boyfriend acts exactly the same way. When chatting on myspace we are totally getting along. But face to face it's like he is a different person. I try to make small talk but all he does is brush me away. I also wanna know the answer to your question. Thanks for asking it.

Truth is it's a possibility he likes you and he probably feels that it should have been you two instead of your friend but he doesn't want to make himself seem guilty as though him liking you around her.

Yeah I agree with option 2 above. I think maybe he likes you and doesn't want to make it obvious, though this kind of behavior does. Or even maybe his girlfriend thinks he likes you and has mentioned to him and he has denied it. So when she's around, he goes out of his way to avoid you so she doesn't question him again.
