Over a month ago now this guy I like and I ended up holding hands on the way back from a trip (and pulled me in closer to himself). I only got to see him in person once after that and he seemed happy to see me but I won't be able to see him in person until fall semester. I have him on facebook and have had a few conversations with him but I've initiated both of them and it seems that I'm doing more to move them along by asking questions and such. Also, the first time I initiated conversation I dropped a pretty obvious hint I like him, so he has no reason to be shy really. He's not totally blowing me off though because this one time he had to log off while we were talking and I didn't message him back immediatedly and later that night he messaged me saying something like "you didn't leave me a message to come back to.ect". I just wrapped up a conversation and told him to drop me a line sometime so I'm going to back off and leave it up to him if he wants to talk. I'm confused!

Also what should I do if he never messages me over the summer? Write him off completely?

He is afraid that if he does initiate a relationship, that it will go downhill extremely quick as a result of the time distance away from you. He is trying to protect himself and you from a bad distant relationship by distancing himself.

He's not trying to be a prick, instead, he is thinking that this is the best way to do things, even if it means not having a relationship with you. He wants the best for you, and this is his way of providing it for you.
