Low self esteem in woman after divorce

are women who have a low self esteem, coming out of divorce(in which their ex husband verbally abused them and made them feel like crap) likely to start dating guys who they usually wouldn't want to date to get an ego boost, thinking that they really like the guy, but in actually not liking them. Could this be a subconscious behavior?
