Why don't girls believe me?

If a guy tells me I'm pretty I just figure he's saying that to be nice or get in my pants. If he's not a scumbag, then I think he's saying it to be nice. A lot of us girls don't think we are pretty- we are really critical of ourselves

But if a guy calls you an ugly whore, that's really mean and he's obviously not trying to get anything out of you.so you sort of take it like he's telling the truth - that you really ARE ugly. Why would someone lie and say you're ugly if you werent?

no matter how hard a girl works; how pretty or smart she may be, she will never get the same benefits she may deserve for her merit. because lets face it, who won the US DNC nomination? HRC is a prime display of how much women strive to overcompensate for everything. there is always someone for whatever arbitrary reason to take it away from her simply because there is one standard or ladder that females can reliably climb up. If you work out too much, you look butch and may not get affection from men, and if you look too pretty you may be dismissed as dumb or a bit lacking in the brain department; if you look sexy, you're a slut.

go figure.

I think most girls just have a hard time thinking of themselves as being pretty. It's easier for them to believe someone who's says they're ugly than someone who tells them their pretty probably because they're insecure about the way they look.

I've had a couple experiences where guys have told me I'm pretty. But it's not that I don't believe that THEY think I'm pretty. It's just that I, myself, don't think I'm pretty. Perhaps that's where the confusion is. You seem like a sincere person and I really think the girls you are talking about probably do believe you. They just can't believe the same thing about themselves. Hope that helped :D

girls never think they look good no matter how long they spend on themselves they always compare themselves to someone else who they think is prettier/hotter and they're always really critical on themselves and look to find every fault in themselves but hearing that we're beautiful does feel good and we like to know that you think so just we usually disagree because we're being modest and/or actually don't think so

Because for one were taught I was taught not to believe every thing a guy says and she or them have already been told that so guys could get into their pants so now their like "Whatever!" Or just totally ignore it like myself.

when guys tell me I'm pretty/gorgeous/anything along those lines, I freak out. why? because somehow I don't like hearing it. at least for me, when a guy says something like that, it makes me think he just wants to get in my pants, or is saying it because he thinks he has to. either that, or it makes me think he really likes me, and that's usually enough to make me go "no no no no".

sure, I'm a little neurotic, but a lot of girls are. I'm not a fan of compliments. it's all in the actions, not the words. :)

Well, when a girl is not just fishing for compliments, she probably has some self esteem issues. A lot of girls go through a period where they don't know their worth. I went through it. They may lack some confidence and have some insecurities that they need to work through. If you can, continue to compliment and support them until they can see their own beauty.

Because they don't know how to react to this compliment. They do know inside that they're pretty, its just they think that if they say "oh I know" or something like that will make them look arrogant and out of your league. I personally thank for every compliment I get and smile to be nice and also show that I'm confident with myself. It's not about the believe, it's about whether you fit to others or no.
If somebody ever called me ugly, I'd assume they're just jealous and don't like something about my personality, rather than looks, because I know myself inside and I believe everybody does know whether they belong to HOT or NOT.

Ok women know if they're pretty, they get it all the time from guys and from girls to. They like the compliments but don't admit to them, they always say no no I'm not that pretty your just being nice. And then when some guy calls them ugly its like a fatal hit to them, so in your case they come crying back to you. Why do they do this you ask because they want to hear that they're pretty from you again, to make them feel better about themselves.

I always thought that they cared too much off that for no reason. Its like the ones that say your too good for me. Their just insecure of themselves. But if anyone can tell you, it would be a girl so ladies step up to this one.
