You know, I think he's a good guy, to an extent. I take it you asked him out (because you're not sure whether he likes you,) and he didn't want to hurt your feelings by saying no. But he was honest with you about wanting your friend back. It sounds like he's up to his face in shit that he waded into himself. Even though he told the shit beforehand that he might just walk out of it and then still is getting scared and confused when it's hard to get out. (sorry if that sounded like I was calling you shit. It was the situation I was referring to =]) I think I'd break up with him, save him from this bad situation, and I don't care if you're expecting it, getting broken up with will never be fun, so if you do the breaking up, it'll be easier for you.

Sorry he's not your boyfriend, and why would you want him to be if he's still talking about the ex? This guy sounds like a jerk to me and you deserve better. Best advice is never ever date an ex of a friend or a friend's friend. I don't care if they say it's okay or that they are over that person, don't do it.

You should never have started dating him in the first place. if he told you he'd break up with you any time if she wanted him back that means he doesn't care about you at all. He still wants her, and you can't change that. He doesn't call you and he flirts with her in front of you because he only cares about her. How can you date someone who doesn't care about you? He's only dating you to have a girlfriend... or maybe his first intention was to make his ex. jealous.

I know you like him but yeah I'd dump him. He flat told you he would take her back. That should be enough.
