I know that I get busy or distracted and it's not that I don't want to answer texts when someone I like texts me, but things happen. I text him back at a later time because I think of him and want to talk to him. so I would say that if she is texting you back, even if it is hours or days later, she is thinking about you :o).

I've done that to a few people. I normally only text them because I'm bored and I know they will reply. its just something different, not serious, just because I can and I feel like it.

Most people text because they're bored. I never got into texting because a lot of stupidity comes out of it. Either call the person if you really want to talk or just leave it alone.

Can I just suggest that texting may not be the best platform for developing budding relationships?

Simply put, they are not all that into you. There could be many reasons behind. She might have a better candidate whom they are flirting with and when they are going downhill in their experience, she might be texting you, seeking assurance and building confidence. There might be no one else, but she might still be feeling the need to flirt, socialize, suppress the loneliness and what not. Very rare but another could be that she is just very shy and doesn't know how to flirt with you and give you proper signs- and again, this is very rare.
