How can you tell if a guy is really intrested?

This guy that I just meant had asked one of my guy friends to give me his number. But my guy friend never gave it to me. Instead he told him a lie and said that I wasn't interested in him.

But then the guy who wanted to give me his number confronts me and asks me why I wouldn't take his number and obviously I didn't know what he was talking about. So we talk for a little while and hear the whole story from him but then he still doesn't give me his number.

I have seen him everyday since then we talk and we flirt. But he acts as if that situation never happened. But now I'm interested in him and I'm wondering if he is still interested.

Maybe he's intimidated now. Why not give him your number or just say: "Whatever happened to you wanting to give me your number, eh? Changed your mind?" I'm sure he's interested in you. What his friend did was pretty immature, though.
